CASI - Carson Animal Services Initiative
~ CASI Chronicles ~
"Every individual matters.
Every individual has a role to play.
Every individual makes a difference."
            Dr. Jane Goodall

We meet amazing people every day...folks looking out for our animal friends.  Whether through volunteering, donating, promoting or supporting, our community is full of people actively making a difference in the lives of animals.

The last two months have been really busy for CASI...back to back events, ranging from golf tournaments, bingo, pool parties to wine tastings...all to raise money to help equip the new shelter, and support programs such as the CASI Critter Fixer.  At our last general meeting, we met with shelter manager Art Westbrook and city manager Nick Marano to talk about the ever important NEED list...
We are now researching prices, contacts, and working on a plan on which to vote and implement!
Thousands of individual actions led to the building of our new animal shelter, and the momentum continues.   I'm confident that together we will continue to improve the lives of our furry friends, simply by embracing the fact that each of us has an important role to play.  Thank you for helping us help critters.        With Gratitude ~ Lisa

Thank You, Eagle Valley Women's Golf Club!
Once again CASI was invited to host a Closest to the Pin prize on hole four of the Wild Wild West Golf Tournament!  We were super excited to not only receive donations for the competition, but also the club gave CASI 1/2 the raffle proceeds for a grand total of nearly $850!  This is the third year that Annette Ramirez and EVWGC has graciously invited CASI to participate with the tournament and we are so thrilled!  Thank you, everyone!!
Congratulations to Pups Graduate, Lucy!
"Hi, I'm two year old Lucy!
I'm a recent graduate of the PUPS Program, where I learned how to socialize with other dogs.

I am as sweet as pie, but just like all sugary things, I have a bit of energy, so an outgoing family would be best.  When I was at Pups learning to be a social butterfly, I also learned basic commands.  Because I'm so active, I'd do best in a home without small children or cats.
I am eager to please and very motivated by treats!
Please come by and say hello!
~ CASI Critter Fixer! ~
CASI has launched its spay/neuter voucher program to help low income pet owners.    Thank you Lone Mountain Veterinary Hospital, Quail Ridge Animal Hospital, and Sierra Veterinary Hospital for being a part of this really important team!

The Carson Animal Services Initiative is making low-cost spay neuter vouchers available to low-income pet owners in the Carson City area.  The vouchers can be used at participating veterinarian offices.  This will allow low-income pet owners to have a cat spayed or neutered for only $25 and a dog for $50.
If your ZIPCODE begins with 897 and you participate in any of the following benefit programs, you're eligible for CASI Critter Fixer:
  • NV Checkup
  • Medicaid
  • Social Security Disability
  • SNAP/Quest card (food stamps)
  • Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Approval of your child's free or low cost school lunch
  • Current Unemployment Insurance recipient verification
If you don't participate in any of these benefits, but your income is below $1,485 per month, you may still qualify for this low-cost spay/neuter program.
Through CASI Critter Fixer, you can get a voucher to help pay the cost of spaying/neutering your dogs or cats and get them vaccinated for rabies if they need it.   To learn more, just call 775-400-7379.
Speaking of spay/neuter...
