A 20-20 Vision!

A Note From Pastor Linda

"Your vision is your why, while your strategic plan is your how... It is the burning desire in your heart that will get you to the outcome you expect."  ~The "No Excuses" Mindset: A Life of Purpose, Passion and Clarity by F. Asl

Dear Church,

An opportunity to get INVOLVED! According to Wikipedia,

"Strategic Planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy or direction and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy, including its capital and people."

It begins with Hosanna's Mission Statement- the basic building block of our LIFE together as we strive to be faithful followers of Jesus:

We are called, gathered and sent to be a people living, loving and serving as Jesus did so that all may know him.

In light of our Mission Statement and the 2016 SWOT analysis results, a Vision Statement was crafted:

To be an engaged, growing, Christ-centered community where all are welcome.

Three areas of focus have been identified:
Out-Reach:   A bold congregation doing extraordinary things to make a difference in the world. Team Lead- Dave Okeson.
In-Reach:  Equipping people through authentic relationships to live out their faith. Team Lead- Kelly Monson
Worship:   A relevant and inspiring experience of grace and hope that brings us together.
Team Lead- Rob Anderson

Next steps include putting flesh to these bare-bone focus areas by creating actionable steps for the next 1, 3 and 5 years. Does this interest you? Do you want to learn more? Do you want to be on one of these teams? YES!!

Learn more THIS Sunday at 10am in the Upper Commons.

Living Lutheran Together!
 ~Pastor Linda

Reformation Save The Dates

Yes, the 500 th Anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation is coming THIS YEAR! Many events are planned across the Twin Cities. Here is a list of opportunities:

Free Screening at Hosanna of- Martin Luther: The Idea that Changed the World
Wednesday, September 27- from 6:30-7:30pm.
500 years ago, Martin Luther triggered a seismic upheaval that rocked the western world in the 1500s- with an impact that continues to reverberate to this day. This film tells the great adventure story of his life. At the same time it examines his quest for truth- questions we all must face- including "Who am I?" "What is my purpose?" and "How do I get right with God?" Thanks to a generous donation, Hosanna is hosting a one-time screening divided on TWO nights as part of our Adult Education and Confirmation Ministry Programs.

Reformation Festival 2017 at Luther Seminary October 27-28
Join in presentations and workshops. Attend a performance on Friday evening (10/27) by the National Lutheran Choir of " Holy Spirit Mass," a new choral work commissioned for the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation at the Basilica of Saint Mary. General Renovation Volunteers Needed
Informational Meeting: Thursday, October 12, 2017

We would like to invite you to learn more about being a General Renovation Volunteer on Thursday, October 12 from 7-8:30pm in the lower level of St. Genevieve Church.

Volunteers can commit to a one-time volunteer opportunity or sign-up for as many shifts as your schedule allows. We will share the renovation schedule as well as sign-up information at this meeting. Representatives from FLAMF (Forest Lake Area Mission for Families), the St. Andrew's Community Resource Center, and St. Gen's will be there to present the volunteer opportunities and answer any questions you may have.

General renovation volunteers do not need to have construction experience and must be willing to get a little dirty ;-)  We will train and equip you with the necessary tools to complete your supervised task.

We hope you will consider putting your faith into action by participating as a General Renovation Volunteer -- your time and talents will give help and hope to our neighbors who are in need of emergency shelter.

If you have questions please feel free to contact Liz Schreier, St. Andrew's Lutheran Church at [email protected].

A special thank you to the efforts of many members in our community and this congregation who have worked diligently and faithfully to make this a reality. Please plan to be a part of our volunteer opportunities as together we answer God's call to love one another.

Chapter 3 Retreat
November 18, 2017

Perhaps you've finished building your career... Maybe you've recently retired or just beginning to think about it... Or the children you've raised have left or are beginning to leave the nest. Each of these scenarios, and many more, represents a transitional and potentially transformational period in life, the turning of a page, the beginning of a NEW chapter in life- the 3
rd Chapter. It is a time that you might find yourself asking, "What's next?". This period offers both opportunity and challenges. It is a time to renew and refocus.
Join others as we explore what this time means in God's time.
