REALTORS® Relief Foundation

Andrea Bushnell, Esq., CEO of NC REALTORS®, talked about the impact Hurricane Matthew had on the state of North Carolina and how the REALTORS® Relief Foundation is helping affected communities at the NAR 2016 Conference. Hurricane Matthew caused more than $10 billion in damages and tore through the southeastern United States as the first Category 5 hurricane in almost a decade.


The Patriot Program

The Patriot Program is an all-new platform designed to help REALTORS reach and serve military and veteran home buyers and sellers. The Patriot Program, from VA Loan Captain, brings REALTORS into the fight to find homes for those who have bravely served ours. This first-ever platform provides REALTORS and veterans with the resources they need to successfully navigate the VA loan process.

First-time Buyers, Single Women Gain Traction in NAR's 2016 Buyer and Seller Survey

The quickening pace of home sales over the past year included a small rebound from two key segments of buyers who have been missing in action in recent years: first-time buyers and single women. This is according to the National Association of Realtors' annual Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers.


Steady She Goes: U.S. Housing on Improving Track

Three more states have entered historic benchmark levels of housing activity, Freddie Mac reports: Alabama, Indiana and New Jersey. Their movement has contributed to a national Multi-Indicator Market Index® (MiMi®) value of 85.7, which denotes a market on the outer edge of its historic benchmark level overall. "Housing markets are on track for their best year in a decade, and that's reflected in MiMi," says Len Kiefer, Freddie Mac's deputy chief economist.

Federal Policy Issues Update

Jerry Giovaniello, NAR Senior Vice President of Government Affairs and Chief Lobbyist, kicked off the Federal Policy Update for a room full of policy geeks showing a chart on predictions for the upcoming elections stating that we could "change the outcome of these polls almost hourly!" He said we face a perfect storm as our government looks at tax reform, restructuring Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and flood insurance.

The Meadowlands Basket Brigade is looking for donations for baskets. They will be accepting donations until Thursday, November 17th. Just $45 will pay for all contents in one basket including a 10 lb. turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, a pumpkin pie, juice boxes, tangerines, brownie mix, Hershey kisses, fresh rolls and butter. Each meal is assembled by volunteers and anonymously delivered on the weekend before Thanksgiving.
