TEXAS-SIZED SPOTLIGHT FOR CCISD
Educators from across Texas took a learning walk through some of Clear Creek ISD's exciting programs in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The two day visit included a tour of the Ed White E-STEM Magnet School, Bayside Intermediate, and Clear Falls High School. On the second day, the group of about 75 education leaders toured NASA and then wrapped up their visit with an hour presentation by CCISD staff to highlight ways other school districts can implement STEM opportunities in their schools. The visit was sponsored by the Texas Association of School Administrators, Syfr LLC, and Chevron.

Clear Creek Intermediate kicked off their Red Ribbon Week with a special visit from Keith Davis, a former NFL football player. He spoke to students about his personal struggles growing up around drugs and alcohol and how he overcame certain obstacles to achieve his dreams. BE A BUDDY, NOT A BULLY
The H-E-B Buddy League recently visited with students at Wedgewood Elementary as part of the grocery chain's new anti-bullying campaign. This program for school-aged children aims to promote diversity and inclusion by inspiring kindness and respect over negative behavior such as teasing, excluding from play, and other forms of bullying.
A DIFFERENT KIND OF COSTUME PARTY
Fourth grade students at Ed White E-STEM Magnet School showed off their smarts during their annual Vocabulary Day parade. Students selected a word and after research, they got to dress up in a costume that best reflected the word's meaning. By the looks of their costumes, no one was "perplexed" about the words students chose.
BROOKSIDE MAKERSPACE
Brookside Intermediate hosted a spooky MakerSpace event for students and families. Maker participants of all ages had fun making slime, building structures out of plastic cups, creating touch pads out of every day objects, origami and more!
BOARD MEMBERS ON THE MOVE
Dr. Laura DuPont, school board president, and Ann Hammond, trustee, are lifelong learners like our students. The duo traveled to Cy-Fair last week to participate in the Business and Education Forum at the Berry Center. The event, hosted by the Texas Association of School Boards, was an opportunity for business and community leaders to discuss partnerships for student success.
