Thank you to all who joined us to make the 7th Annual Consuls Reception as fantastic as ever. It was a pleasure to see networking across business, academic, and governmental communities. We are proud to present many more opportunities to do so with our upcoming events.
Coming up soon, we will have the last Chat & Chowder of 2016, an exciting analysis of the U.S. diplomatic approach. Come enjoy the gorgeous Downtown Harvard Club of Boston on December 7.
Unsurprisingly around this time of year, we are hosting a number of groups concerned with elections and the U.S. political process. In addition, we are pleased to welcome two delegations who will have a unique chance to understand the Thanksgiving holiday in the place where it orginated.

Japan: Climate Change and Port Resilience
November 6-8
A member of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism will be coming to Boston on a unique program to learn about the impact of climate change on port cities. He will be meeting with several government offices, such as Massport and the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management.

November 9-12
Three members of the National Assembly of Serbia are coming to develop strategies to explore the role of free elections in helping to promote peace and stability, good governance, and a vibrant democracy. They will meet with NGOs and government officials across Boston, and will use the presidential election as a case study in their discussions.

Regional: Grassroots Politics in Elections
November 9-12
Ten delegates from Central and South America will be landing in Boston to observe the variety of citizen grassroots groups that interact with elected officials to address diverse interests at all levels of government. They will meet with journalists at WBUR, as well as with faculty at Harvard University's Institute of Politics.

Pakistan: Community Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution
November 22-26
An exciting mix of tribal elders, government officials, lawyers, and more will visit at the end of this month. Their topic explores the cultural preservation and indigenous rights, as well as grassroots advocacy and the positive impacts of racial and ethnic diversity.

Nepal: Higher Education
November 26 - December 1
Four delegates, including professors and an official from the Nepalese Ministry of Education, will learn to effectively manage a university from some of the world's best institutions. Their focus includes finding methods to increase business partnerships and volunteer engagement.

The International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State's premier professional exchange program and WorldBoston's main citizen diplomacy partner. Launced in 1940, the IVLP is a professional exchange program that seeks to build mutual understanding between the U.S. and other nations through carefully designed short-term visits to the U.S. for current and emerging foreign leaders. These visits reflect the International Visitors' professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.
The U.S. Department of State's bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs adminsters the IVLP. In doing so, the bureau enters cooperative agreements with National Program Agences, a group of private, not-for-profit organizations based in Washington, D.C., that design and implement national IVLP itineraries. In addition to the National Program Agencies, the IVLP relies on the commitment and skills of local community organizations across the U.S., known as Centers for International Visitors (CIVs). Under the professional association of Global Ties U.S., local CIV members develop professional programs, arrange cultural activies, and provide home hospitality for international visitors.
WorldBoston is part of the Global Ties Network of more than 90 CIVs in 45 states.
