Etowah Valley MFA to host fall reading in partnership with Milton Literary Festival

Reinhardt University's Etowah Valley MFA in Creative Writing, in partnership with the Milton Literary Festival, will host a fall reading Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. in the Bannister Glasshouse, Hasty Student Life Center, and will feature acclaimed authors Cassandra King and Ellen Malphrus.
King is the widow of the late Pat Conroy, known for his great American literature including "The Prince of Tides" and "The Great Santini," both of which were made into Oscar-nominated motion pictures. Malphrus is a longtime friend of Conroy.

Student Activities to host special Veterans Day ceremony and event

Reinhardt University's Office of Student Activities will host a special Veterans Day event Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. in the Bannister Glasshouse, Hasty Student Life Center. The event is open to the public. It will feature Jim Lindenmayer, director of the Cherokee County Homeless Veteran Program, the Cherokee High School ROTC color guard and Reinhardt's School of the Performing Arts.

Funk Heritage Center to host Native American Day
November is Native American Month, and each year Reinhardt University's Funk Heritage Center in Waleska holds a free public event to honor Georgia's first people.
This year, the special event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
"This is a great day for scouts of all ages to visit. Hot dogs and drinks will be for sale or you can bring a picnic lunch," said Dr. Joseph Kitchens, executive director of the Funk Heritage Center. "All scouts in uniform will receive a free hot dog and drink."

Commit to reducing paper
On Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Gordy Dining Center, sign the Pledge at the RU Green Table to reduce your paper use on campus by 5 percent.
The first 50 Reinhardt students, faculty and staff that sign the pledge get a free reusable plate to use in the Gordy Dining Center.
Also, during lunch enjoy local grown and pesticide free basil, lettuce, radish, turnips and much more grown from the Reinhardt Greenhouse and Buice Family Farms in Jasper.
