It has been a busy summer and fall for ERS Parish Health Ministry.  We have been active with planning Refresh Your Soul 2017; creating the Fall Prevention program; hosting volunteer recognition activities; offering Mental Health First Aid classes and much more. This issue of the newsletter is intended to give you a quick update on those programs as well as some others.

God bless you,

Blood Pressure Program - Updates

In 2003, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) published the JNC 7 Report and continues to list this report in its "Current Clinical Practice Guidelines and Reports" section of its website. We will continue to promote the use of this report and the recommendations of the NHLBI as the standard for our Parish Health Ministry Blood Pressure program. However, we have made updates to the recommendations and education sections of our manual.

For more information or a copy of these two updated sections, please contact Rhonda Johnson at  [email protected]

New Fall Prevention Program

"Stayin Healthy" Fall Prevention program is a compilation of National Fall Prevention educational information, programs and resources which are organized to assist our partners as they educate older adults and their caregivers about fall prevention. The program folder contains an overview sheet, free resources from the National Institute on Aging, and a flash drive (with instructions) containing the program's many resources.
