   - presented by John Quinn, Esquire, Partner at O'Hagan Mayer, PLLC.

On April 10, 2017, the Department of Labor’s final rules expanding the “investment advice fiduciary” definition under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (“ERISA”) take effect, with certain exceptions for transition periods related to some exceptions to the rules.  These rules will require financial advisers to retirement plans, participants of retirement plans, investors in individual retirement account (“IRA”) and retirees in general to address, monitor and remedy certain conflicts of interest.  The session is intended to identify the changes from the existing rules and convey an understanding of the impact of those changes to existing business practices in the investment advisory, broker-dealer and insurance industries.
