Tracy Avenue Update - New Crossing Area - **Please Take Note**

We are very excited about Tracy Avenue finally being re-opened.  With this change comes the addition of another crosswalk leading from our school property to the neighborhood (at Countryside Road/Tracy Avenue).
  • Beginning this afternoon, an adult will be assigned to assist students in making a safe crossing both before and after school.
  • I have asked Edina Police to have a presence periodically over the next days/weeks as drivers in the area get used to this new crosswalk location.
  • Also, as winter approaches, I will be in touch with the City of Edina regarding the maintenance of the street in this area, as there is a hill as drivers approach from the north.  I want to make sure the condition of the road surface allows vehicles to stop well for our students.

  • Thank you for your patience as we work out the logistics for this new crossing location.

Countryside is a Polling Location - Tuesday, November 8
Countryside Elementary will again serve as a polling location for Election Day next Tuesday.  Voters will be accessing our school throughout the day.  We have made plans for additional adult supervision to be in place at key entrances - Doors 1 and 2.  Visitors to our building will not have access to classroom spaces and we will all be mindful of the safety and comfort of our students and staff as we go about our daily routine.  In addition, staff will be parking offsite to make parking available for community members coming to vote.
Turkey Bingo Prizes Needed - Nov. 22
Our 13th Annual Turkey Bingo event is coming up at 2:45 on Tuesday, November 22nd and we are always in need of more prizes.  We need to make sure that there is at least one prize for every student at Countryside!   If you have anything you can donate, that would be awesome!  We are looking for little trinkets, candy, toys, whatever you think kids might enjoy!  Remember - one child's junk is another's treasure!  Any donations should be sent to school and teachers will route them to our collection point.  Thank you in advance and Gobble, Gobble!
Dressing for Minnesota Weather
With our unpredictable fall/winter weather upon us, I would like to remind students that they should come dressed appropriately for changing weather conditions.  Students will go outside for noon recess unless it is raining or the temperature or wind chill is below zero (BRRRR, let's hope that doesn't happen for a while).
Stay in the Loop!

There are so many exciting projects underway in the district.  For details and timelines of all of the district's construction projects, visit   HERE
Taking Good Care of Our Fabulous School
Taking Good Care of our Fabulous School
Teachers have been having conversations with their classes recently about our Countryside Pride Values and how they connect with how we show respect for the people at Countryside and the building itself.  We have had lots of unfortunate situations recently when students are not making good choices in and around the building, particularly as it relates to restroom etiquette.  I am sad to report that we have had lots of reports of students urinating on the floor in the restrooms, rather than in the toilets or urinals.  If parents have the opportunity to discuss this topic or to encourage their students to let the adults at school know right away if they are aware of it happening, that will help us bring a halt to this situation.  Thank you in advance for having some tough conversations.
