These are just a few of the questions that will be addressed at AC Forum's national conference, April 20-22, 2017. The 3-day symposium will bring together medical professionals in fields ranging from cardiology and hematology to pharmacy and family medicine for discussions on current research and evidence-based practices in the field of antithrombotic therapy.

In addition to presentations by leading experts, the conference will feature small, topic-specific master classes,  a "meet the expert" breakfast, poster sessions and industry exhibits.

The deadline for early bird registration is Dec 15, but the master classes often fill up before then.

AC Forum is now accepting abstracts to be included at the 14th National Conference in Los Angeles, April 20-22, 2017. Accepted research will be displayed at poster sessions at the conference and published in the Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis.

The objective of the poster sessions is to share research and work being done across the antithrombotic field. Original research -- even if recently published, case studies, and research building on previously covered hypotheses will be considered.

The submission deadline is 5:00 pm CST, December 1, 2016.

AC Forum is pleased to offer conference scholarships for early career professionals and others who need financial assistance. Each scholarship includes complimentary registration to the conference (a $335 value) and a $1,000 stipend for travel and lodging expenses. 

To apply, applicants need to fill out an application and submit a 300-word essay. Five applicants who demonstrate a financial need and a strong desire to further their knowledge in the field of antithrombotic care will receive a scholarship.

Neil Goldenberg, MD, PhD, Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, will present an overview of VTE in children and young adults, including risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, outcomes, prognostic factors, and prevention strategies. He also will discuss the current understanding about obesity and its relationship to VTE risk in young patients, as well as the early diagnosis and optimal management of challenging scenarios in young-onset VTE. Alex Spyropoulos, MD and Professor of Medicine, Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine, will serve as moderator.
