ND Spotlight
Students Participate in Homerun for Heroes
Six ND students participated in the Homerun for Heroes event sponsored by Sikorsky Aircraft on Saturday, August 20. The event honored veterans in style. The students assisted where needed, escorted invited celebrities, and some even got to be on the field with the helicopter and event staff.  The president of Sikorsky Aircraft now owned by Lockheed Martin put on quite an extravaganza ending a memorable evening with fireworks and a live band.

Student Participates in Leadership Conference
This past June,  Aliyah Louis '18 represented Notre Dame at the Connecticut state Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference (HOBY) on the campus of the University of Bridgeport. Aliyah was  selected  from over 20 Notre Dame applicants and had a great experience and worked on taking her leadership skills to the next level.

In her own words:
"From June 3-5, I had the opportunity to attend HOBY, which is an amazing leadership conference at the University of Bridgeport. The main purpose behind this conference was to support and uphold leadership and discover what hidden and unique qualities we possess in ourselves.  At first, I wasn't too sure what to expect from HOBY, but my days at HOBY consisted of so many fun activities such as attending lectures from many inspiring guest speakers. We made blankets for the needy and filled backpacks with school supplies for those who may not be able to get all they need for the upcoming school year. I would say that the friendships that I made during my stay at HOBY was one of the things that impacted me the most. Everyone there was caring and understanding which made it very easy for us all to bond. This conference was very life changing. And for anyone who gets an opportunity like I was given to attend HOBY or any conference like it, go for it. It was very helpful."
