John F. Kennedy High School - Waterbury
Newfield was retained to provide John F. Kennedy High School with a new two-story 30,000 square foot building in order to expand the academic and athletic programs. The new building proved especially challenging due to the occupied campus throughout construction. Due to the site's steep grading, a second story glass-enclosed foot bridge was installed in order to connect the existing school building to the new two-story building. Site improvements for the high school included new tennis courts, parking areas, driveways, storm water management systems and a state-of-the-art synthetic football/softball field.
Common Ground High School - New Haven
Common Ground High School, an environmental charter school, combines urban agriculture and sustainable land-management practices into their core curriculum. As part of their long-range, 20-acre site development strategy, Newfield was hired to construct a new 14,000 square foot classroom building that includes a large multi-purpose space with a half basketball court and performance area, two science classrooms, an art classroom, student collaborative area and administrative offices. The building was designed to meet the CT High Performance Building Standards and achieved LEED Gold status.
Loomis Chaffee School, Cutler Hall - Windsor
As Construction Manager, beginning in the schematic design phase, Newfield recently finished constructing the new Cutler Hall Dormitory for Loomis Chaffee School. The new dorm, located in the heart of the campus, is 25,000 square feet and consists of single and double occupancy rooms for 50 students as well as 4 faculty apartments, a large common area for students to socialize and study as well as a common kitchen for collaborative cooking.
Community Health Resources, Center for Health and Wellness - Manchester
In an effort to consolidate their leased spaces, Community Health Resources brought Newfield on to construct a new 30,000 square foot outpatient mental health clinic, laboratory and office building. The new building includes counseling and treatment areas, offices, a cafeteria and conference facilities.
Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy - Hartford
The Hartford Magnet Middle School teamed with Trinity College to expand its program from 6th through 12th grade. This expansion, now named Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy, allows students an early college experience with 120 students per grade level. Located within Hartford's Learning Corridor, Newfield acted as Construction Manager for this project which included a new 50,000 square foot academic addition and renovations.
