Celebration of Life: Andy Spedden
PAWS celebrates the life of Andy Spedden, a dedicated and inspiring PAWS Member who, with his service and therapy companion, Guinness, touched the lives of so many in our community. Andy passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 after a valiant fight against the cancer he battled for many years.

One of our most active Therapy Teams, Andy and Guinness visited Helen F. Graham Cancer Center regularly. Both members of this team were able to relate to the patients there as they both had first hand/paw experience with cancer.

We send our love with Guinness as he travels to Florida to live with Angel, Andy's daughter. We send our sympathy to Andy's family and friends and hope that they know how much we appreciated the dedication, kindness, and compassion that he shared on his visits with PAWS.

There will be a celebration of Andy's life on Friday, October 21 from 11:30 - 2:00 at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center in Newark, DE. All are welcome to attend. Christiana Care approved Therapy Pets are also welcome.

Shining Stars
Erin Connelly & Fantastic Mr. Foxx

Erin and  Foxx have been members of PAWS since May 2014. Along with visiting at  Bowling Green Brandywine  and MeadowWood, they participate in PAWS by Special Request visits and can always be found supporting PAWS at community events. They are both "fantastic!"
Carolyn Grant & Duffy

Carolyn and Duffy, a goldendoodle, have been members since November, 2011. Their compassion is endless during their visits at the Christiana Care Emergency Room and they bring smiles to the faces of those undergoing chemotherapy at the Helen Graham Cancer Center. They also share their time with children in the PAWS for Reading Program and during visits at the University of Delaware Early Learning Center. Bravo to a wonderful team!

Sites to Celebrate: Delaware Mentor
This facility in Millsboro supports Adults with Disabilities and partnered with PAWS a few short months ago. Here, PAWS teams are working closely with Delaware Mentor staff and PAWS consultant,  Susan Pfadt , to address and support individual improvement plans. The impact of having the therapy companions on site has been immediately effective and dramatic. We are grateful to have established such a meaningful partnership.
