Art lovers will find plenty to see and do on the Kitsap Peninsula. From diverse galleries to world-class museums, community art walks to DIY studios, the regional arts scene is lively and inviting. " Each town has its own vibrant center," said Johnny Walker, owner of Almost Candid Frame & Fine Art in Kingston. "For those who want to leave the metroplex and still see some sophisticated art by local, regional, even national artists, the Kitsap Peninsula is a great place to visit." A stroll around local arts districts, studio tours  and special exhibits are a festive way to survey each community's unique art landscape and watch artists at work. The Kitsap Peninsula is home to artisans and craftspeople recognized for their talents in painting, pottery, sculpture, textiles, photography, metal work, glass and jewelry and other artistic mediums.

Lisa Stirrett Glass Art  Gallery, located in Silverdale, transformed an abandoned quonset hut into a gallery and hot spot enjoyed by both locals and visitors. In Bremerton the must see art stop is  Collective Vision Gallery one of the oldest co-op galleries in the region featuring  the works of dozens of artists. Just across Sinclair Inlet in Port Orchard is the Port Orchard Sidney Museum & Arts Association.

Gig Harbor is a spectacular waterfront city on the southern end of the Kitsap Peninsula that's just minutes from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The walkable downtown is filled with galleries, shops and inviting restaurants, including the iconic Tides Tavern, celebrated for its fish and chips  and stellar view. 
Explore the Harbor History Museum to learn about the area's roots as a fishing village 
and see a 65-foot fishing boat that's in the process of being restored. Take time to study the one-room school- house, historic net-drying sheds that date back to the 1880s and heritage markers along Harborview Drive. Heritage Distilling Co. has a tasting room downtown and 7 Seas Brewing is nearby. For family-friendly fun, check Harbor Wild Watch's monthly Pier Into the Night program. SCUBA divers use an underwater camera to show visitors on land what's living in Gig Harbor Bay. The next program is Nov 5 at the

Kitsap Loves Kids
As the weather turns cool, the Kitsap Peninsula offers plenty of indoor fun for kids of all ages, including hands-on museums and a new three-story play area. Ahoy Kitsap Playland opens
Nov. 4th for children up to age 12. There's a toddler area and jump zone plus sensory-friendly play times. On Nov. 5th head to the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport for  Science Saturday to   learn about semaphore 
communication and make your own signal flags. The   Aurora Valentinetti Puppet Museum  in Bremerton has a
children's play area and mechanical puppet stage. On  Nov. 19 , the museum is  presenting "The Enchanted White Cat"  at Olympic College Theater.  Kids can touch all manner of things that creep and crawl at the Bremerton Bug & Reptile Museum . On Nov. 4, create Thanksgiving-themed art during Family Night at  Kids Discovery Museum.   The Bremerton Ice Center has public ice skating sessions every day or you can opt for roller skates and take the family for a spin at  Skateland in Bremerton offering  family skating Wed. through Sun. Big Apple Diner - Silverdale
The Big Apple Diner serves classic American comfort food in a fun 1950s-style setting. A Kitsap Peninsula destination for 20 years, the diner will please your pickiest eater and delight out-of-town guests with 100+ menu items. Popular dishes include corned beef hash, chicken-fried steak, pancakes, waffles, omelets, eggs Benedict and sausage gravy with biscuits. Salmon Habitat Tours
On November 5, take a guided tour to view the annual migration of native salmon returning home to streams around the Kitsap Peninsula.   This is a family-friendly way to learn about the salmon's amazing lifecycle from biologists and trained docents at six different locations. Gingerbread House Party
Reserve your spot now for the Farm Kitchen's popular gingerbread decorating parties on  November 26 and  five December afternoons.
