Robert Bertini will lead Center for Urban Transportation Research

Engineering Dean Robert Bishop has appointed Dr. Robert L. Bertini, P.E. Director of CUTR and tenured professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He was previously a faculty member at California Polytechnic State University and Portland State University in Oregon.


Fred Mannering appointed associate dean

Dr. Fred Mannering has been named Associate Dean of Research by Dean Robert Bishop. A professor in civil and environmental engineering Mannering is a nationally recognized transportation researcher who has been published widely and cited thousands of times.

USF's  Center for Urban Transportation Research , directed by USF Civil Engineering Professor Robert Bertini, is the largest university-based transportation center in Florida and one the top 10 in the United States.
 
In 2015-16 the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Center for Urban Transportation Research combined for over  $21 million in annual research expenditures .

Civil and Environmental Dept. Professor  Sarina Ergas  received the 2016 SACNAS Distinguished Mentor Award.  

CEE Professor James Mihelcic was named a recipient of the prestigious 2016 WEF Fellow.

Associate Professor Qiong "Jane" Zhang received a four-year $1.96M grant for project titled "CRISP Type 2: Integrative Decision Making Framework to Enhance the Resiliency of Interdependent Critical Infrastructures." 

Assistant Professor  Xiaopeng (Shaw)  Li,  NSF CAREER Award winner , has received the second NSF CRISP 2 Type Project titled "Harnessing Interdependency for Resilience: Creating an "Energy Sponge" with Cloud Electric Vehicle Sharing."

Associate Professor Maya Trotz who has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP) was recently elected as the incoming Vice President of AEESP.
