Scott's Fall Newsletter

  1. UNC hosted it's annual alumni game in early October a special moment for our daughter Bailey to see one of her namesakes for the first time since she was just a few weeks old. Pictured here with Bailey is my wife Lanier and Jake. Jake was a graduate of UNC in 2015 and has been involved with FCA for as long as I can remember. I first met Jake and his family back in 2006 when I came on staff.

  2. Living in a college town has presented a lot of opportunities to love on some college students. Each month Lanier and I host a dinner for UNC students who are involved in our church's college ministry. This year we started also hosting a brunch once a month for college students between the 8:30 and 11:30 church services on Sunday morning. Pictured here are cinnamon bun waffles which were a huge hit with the college kids.

  3. As some of you know, I've been on a journey the past two years losing and keeping off 50 lbs. A few weeks ago, I celebrated that journey by running my first 1/2 marathon. This weekend Lanier and I are heading to Orlando, FL where I will run in another 1/2 marathon, this time at Disney World. This will also be the first time Lanier and I have had a weekend away together since the summer of 2014.

  4. After operating primarily out of my home office since moving to North Carolina, I have moved to office space basically on UNC Chapel Hill's campus. I now use the North Carolina Study Center as home base. The location is perfect to be able to meet students as well as to have community with other ministries who I share office space with. To learn more about the North Carolina Study Center and check out more of my new space please click here.

  5. One of the greatest blessings I've had the past 10 years is to have 29 interns who I've spent my summers with. It's always great seeing what God is doing in their lives beyond the summers we shared together. Jordan Kenney who interned in 2006 recently visited Chapel Hill to grab some lunch and catch up. I attended my first FCA camp at Kutztown University with Jordan.

  6. More than 300 people gathered at Orange High School in Hillsborough, NC for Fields of Faith. To watch a 30-second video of the event, you can click on the video below.

  7. This past weekend, the 2021 FCA North Carolina competed in the Fall Classic in Charlotte. We were able to go through huddles on frustration and commitment. The guys on the team were also blessed to hear from Kevin Mack who played at The Ohio State University and for the Ohio Machine and Charlotte Hounds of the MLL.

  8. Just prior to FCA's fiscal year starting, all FCA staff in North and South Carolina gathered together for a few days of fellowship, equipping, and empowering. It's always a great reminder knowing that you're not alone in working to reach coaches and athletes for Jesus Christ.
