Announcements
Congratulations to all of the students who were inducted into Tucker's National Honor Society on October 19th! The application process was more difficult this year as 254 of Tucker's student body were qualified by their grades alone. Only 100 students were accepted after demonstrating considerable leadership, community involvement, and academic rigor to the faculty committee, which spent a considerable amount of time reviewing applications.

Reflections submissions are due on November 28th! The theme for this year is "What Is Your Story?" Students may submit in these categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. Fill out the cover sheet here and turn it into the main office in an envelope marked "Reflections."

Spirit Wear can be purchased at the Tiger's Den (the school store by Cafeteria 3) during lunch on Thursdays and Fridays during lunch. Also make sure to check out our new white shirt, which is perfect for the White Out football game on November 4th.

Opportunities To Get Involved
Volunteering For Parents and Students
Students: If you need community service hours, we need additional help for the Craftsmen Craft Show on November 4-6. Please fill out this form to receive more details about the Craftsmen Classic Show or to sign up for other PTSA events.
Parents: To volunteer for the PTSA, please fill out this form. There are several volunteer options, one of which will likely suit your interest and schedule. There are separate forms to volunteer during lunch and after school at the Tiger's Den 2 (the school store by Cafe 3) or after school at the Tiger Shack (the school concessions store).

Herrity House Donations
Herrity House is a year-round donation program that collects items for our Tucker community. Most donations are gently used clothing and toiletries, but some household items will be accepted. Currently, the most urgent supplies needed are nice professional clothes for parents to wear to interviews as well as everyday clothes for children of all ages. Items are free and distributed based on the greatest need. Simply drop off your donations in the main office with the label 'Herrity House.' The main office does not issue receipts, but one can be requested through an email to [email protected].

Tiger's Trust Notice
Individuals and families assist the PTSA by annually contributing generously to its main fundraiser, the Tiger's Trust campaign, no in its 11th year. Parents and students are asked for a one time, tax-deductible contribution to the J. R. Tucker PTSA. All contributions are used to benefit Tucker students, teachers, and staff. Please remember that no amount is too small. Several companies in the immediate Richmond area offer matched contributions, so please list your employer to potentially double your contribution. If you would like to make a donation, please fill out the donation form, and place your contribution in an enveloped marked "Tiger's Trust." Send the envelope to your student's homeroom teacher or send an email to the Tiger's Trust chairperson at [email protected].

Membership
Each year, parents, teachers, and students are asked to join the PTSA (Parent Teacher Student Association). We are hoping to increase our membership this year as we lag behind our local schools by significant numbers. Please join! It is only $8 per individual member or $25 maximum per family. A hefty portion of this fee stays right here at Tucker to help our school. PTSA sponsored programs include: After Prom Party (Party All Night), Baccalaureate/Senior Send-Off, Bookstore, Spirit Wear, Grants, Hospitality, PTSA Scholarships, Student Aid, Community Outreach, PTSA Website, E-Blasts, Newsletter Communications, and more. Fill out the membership form and drop it off in the main office in an envelope marked "PTSA Membership" to join today.
