Opportunities for Ministry
HURRICANE RELIEF
Several areas in eastern North Carolina are suffering the effects of Hurricane Matthew. Many communities will require assistance in recovery for a long time to come.
What you can do:
Continue to pray for the churches, church leaders, and communities that are hurting.
Be a part of a team going to Lumberton to help. Tasks range from sorting and distributing supplies of hygiene and healthcare items, packaging food bags for families, to de-mudding homes. You would be there around 2 days. If you want to go, contact Pastor Rob.
Give to the newly established CBFNC Hurricane Matthew Response Fund. 100% of the donations received through this fund will go directly to helping North Carolina communities devastated by Hurricane Matthew.
Donate supplies such as toiletries, diapers, clothing and school supplies. When available, Susan Dunn will be communicating a list of needed items.

EXTENDED SESSION HELP NEEDED
Volunteers needed to serve the 3rd Sunday of each month in the Toddler class and nursery. Extended Session takes place during the Worship service 10:50am to 12:15pm. Contact

CHURCH ANNUAL MEETING AND CHRISTMAS LUNCH
Sunday, December 4th
The annual Church Business Meeting will be held immediately following the Worship Service on Sunday, December 4th. All members
are encouraged to attend to approve the 2017 Budget and affirm new Deacon nominees to begin serving in January.
After the annual meeting all are invited to stay and attend the HillSong Christmas Potluck luncheon. Bring a dish to share and join in
this special fellowship meal.
Table decorators are needed. Twelve to fourteen tables will be available for decorating. If you are interested, contact the

Halloween

'Halloween' began nearly 2000 years ago in Ireland as a Celtic festival involving the warding off of ghosts. It was co-opted by the Roman Catholic Church 609 AD. [i] Immigrants from Europe revived old country traditions around "All Hallows Eve" in the United States in the 19th century. The day became associated with vandalism until there was a shift in the 1950's. At that time, Halloween morphed into the family-friendly neighborhood holiday we now celebrate.
Today, Halloween is a $6 billion industry in America. Some Christians feel followers of Jesus should not celebrate Halloween. I respect the argument Jamie Morgan makes in the article
cited in the footnotes. [ii] I don't agree with him, but I respect the case he's making. If a person's participation in Halloween festivities truly is a celebration of witchcraft, then I would join him in renouncing all participation in the day.
