Pillsbury Dough Boy Dead at 71. Obituary.
Sad news today, so please join me in remembering yet another great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Dough Boy died yesterday of a yeast infection and traumatic complications from repeatedly being poked in his belly during his lifetime. The veteran Pillsbury spokesman was 71. Dough Boy is survived by his wife, Play Dough; three children, John Dough, Jane Dough, and Dill Dough; plus they also had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. Services were held yesterday at 350 for about 20 minutes.

Dough Boy (DB) was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Longtime friend, Aunt Jemima, delivered the eulogy, describing DB as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. DB rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers.

He was not considered a very "smart cookie," wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he was thought of as a roll model for millions. Toward the end it was thought he would rise again, but alas, he remained unleavened.
Apple Season

Allan discovered 5 or 6 apple trees on one of our leases, laden with fruit. We had an enjoyable time picking apples with our granddaughters. Although I primarily dehydrated them, since that is the easiest way to preserve without taking up much space, I did make some pretty awesome apple pies.

Here's a hint . . . many years ago in New Braunfuls, Texas, I had the most wonderful apple pie I had ever eaten. When I asked the waitress what the secret was, she said, "Sour cream." Next time you make an apple pie, try adding about a half cup of sour cream to the filling.

Visit from our Granddaughters
Granddaughter Charlee and step granddaughter Bella visited us for two weeks in October. They had a wonderful time and we really enjoyed having them.

We celebrated Charlee's (left) 5th birthday.
Bella will be 5 this month.

They LOVED riding the horse.

And playing with the new kitten.
They named her Elsa.

And playing with Gabe -

The best dog in the world!

And playing dress-ups.

A View From the Top of the Hill
Took a hike one day with grandkids Teeg (2) and Reece (10) to the top of the hill
behind our house, which you can see below.

Looking off in another direction. Beautiful spot for building a home someday, perhaps.

In Closing . . .
The irrigation water has been turned off and Allan will be able to enjoy a little more free time throughout the rest of the fall, the winter and early spring. We have lots of projects to work on, though. And hunting season is upon us, always an exciting time for our family.

We can never thank you enough for your support of our business, but once again Allan and I would like to say, "Thanks!" You are the best. God bless you abundantly.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. May you have a wonderful holiday filled with laughter, fun, and good food.

Lois & Allan
