OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal
Professional Skills Survey for Businesses
Thank you for participating in the OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal Professional Skills survey. Your responses to the following survey will help us determine which professional skills high school students must have to be considered job-ready upon graduation. Please allow for 15 minutes to complete this 37-question survey.
The world of work is rapidly changing. Skills needed for career success are evolving at the speed of technology and innovation. To ensure that we are meeting the needs of Ohio's businesses, the Ohio Department of Education, Governor's Office of Workforce Transformation, and Ohio Department of Higher Education have partnered to develop an "OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal". The seal is a formal designation a job-ready high school student can earn on his or her transcript and diploma by demonstrating the professional skills required for success in the 21st century workplace.
We've set a deadline of
October 1st for the survey so that we can keep moving and make the seal ready for the graduating class of 2018.

New Medicare Cards are Coming!
We recently received some helpful information from the Ohio Senior Health
Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP) about new Medicare cards that will
begin to be mailed in the Spring. We wanted to share this information so
that you are aware and prepared.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will remove Social
Security numbers from Medicare cards and mail each person a new card. This
will help to keep information more secure and help protect against identity
fraud. Cardholders will receive a new Medicare number that is unique to them.
The new card will not change coverage or benefits.
Here's how you can prepare:
* Make sure your mailing address is up-to-date. If your address needs to be corrected, contact Social Security at ssa.gov/myaccount or 1-800-772-1213.
* Be aware of anyone who contacts you about your new Medicare card. CMS will never ask you for personal or private information to receive your new Medicare number and card.
* Mailing new cards will take time. Your card delivery may arrive at a different time period than your family, friends or neighbors.
New cards will be mailed out between April 2018 and April 2019. For more information, you can log onto the CMS website at https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/New-Medicare-Card/index.html or OSHIIP's website at http://www.insurance.ohio.gov/consumer/pages/consumertab2.aspx.
Just a reminder as well that Medicare Check-Up Days will be taking place this Fall all across our district. There is one scheduled in each of the ten counties we serve that includes Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton. The events are designed to help Medicare beneficiaries evaluate their current coverage and make the determination on whether they should switch to a plan that will better support their needs, in addition to help with any Medicare questions or concerns. To learn more about the Medicare Check-Up Day in your county, check out our website at www.aaa7.org under "About AAA7" and then "Upcoming Events", or you can call our Agency toll-free at 1-800-582-7277 or e-mail info@aaa7.org. Most of the events feature individual counseling sessions that require an appointment. This is important to know so that you can call ahead to assure you have secured a time to talk to someone one-on-one about your plan and any questions you may have.

LOCAL MEDICARE
PRESENTATIONS SCHEDULED
Pike County - October 30
Are you a Medicare beneficiary? Want to find out more information about
how the Medicare Annual Coordinated Election Period can work for you?
Want to stay informed and healthy and save money? If so, then mark your
calendar for Medicare informational presentations and counseling events
that will be available this Fall in your county.
These free events are made possible by the Ohio Department of
Insurance's Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program (OSHIIP),
which travels the state each fall to help Ohioans, family members and caregivers understand the different Medicare coverage options and available financial assistance. Medicare's Annual Coordinated Election Period starts October 15th and ends December 7th. During this time, Medicare beneficiaries can evaluate their current coverage and make the determination on whether they should switch to a plan that will better support their needs. Those on Medicare are strongly encouraged to attend a session, which will provide helpful information and assistance.
The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) can also help you throughout the year to answer any questions you might have concerning your Medicare coverage, specifically with help surrounding the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Coverage Low Income Subsidy "Extra Help" Program and the Medicare Savings Program (assistance with Part B premium). If you would like to learn more about these programs and whether or not you are eligible to receive discounts on your prescription drugs, please call our office at 1-800-582-7277 and ask for extension 250.
Local Medicare presentations are scheduled for:
