  1. Avoid trick-or-treating at houses where you can hear or see a dog barking 

 

 

 

2. Don't approach dogs, even if you know them, because they may not recognize you in your costume

 

3. Stand still if a dog escapes and comes up to you until their owner gains control of them

Homemade Dog Treats
Phyllis' Famous Live Treats: Try this quick and easy dog treat recipe from one our our favorite pet professionals, Teoti Anderson.
 
 
1 lb. chicken livers
2 eggs
1-1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup yellow corn meal
Garlic powder 
 
In a blender: beat eggs and livers together.
In a bowl: mix flour, corn meal, and garlic powder.
Pour blender mixture in the bowl and stir.
Pour ingredients into a greased pan and bake at 325ยบ for 25 minutes (open windows while cooking).
Cut into bite size pieces, let cool, and watch your dog enjoy! 
(Keep treats refrigerated)

Halloween Safety Tips 
Halloween is a time that many of us enjoy, however, it is important to know these important safety tips to keep you and your animals out of harms way this year.

  • Make sure your pet is comfortable in their costume
  • Do not bring your dog along for trick-or-treating 
  • Keep pets inside
  • If you have a black cat, make sure to keep your furry friend inside for a few days prior to Halloween to avoid pranks or harm to your animal
  • Keep candy out of your pet's reach, especially chocolate!
  • Be careful with candles
