Westland Mayor William R. Wild Elected to Michigan Municipal League's (MML) Board of Trustees


Westland, MI - On Thursday, September 12, Westland Mayor William R. Wild was elected to serve on the Michigan Municipal League's Board of Trustees.  Mayor Wild was one of six officials elected to the board from across the State of Michigan.

The Michigan Municipal League provides a wide variety of services to help its member communities sustain highly livable, desirable and unique places within the state. Their services include state and federal advocacy, placemaking techniques, legal and insurance services, executive search services, education on a multitude of topics relevant to municipal officials, and much more.

The Michigan Municipal League is supported by a strategic and passionate Board of Trustees who are a critical part of the League's organizational structure. The 18-member Board guides the League's internal workings and public policy with support from five legislative committees.  The League President appoints a nominating committee to review candidates and make recommendation for election at the League's annual meeting, held at the Annual Convention.  Trustees consideration are aimed to make up a representation from all geographic areas of the state. Preference is given during selection to those individuals who have shown a commitment to the League and its principles.

The City is served by two public school districts; Wayne-Westland Community Schools serving 12,000 youth was recently named one of the Best Schools in Michigan by WXYZ-TV and is the proud recipient of 14 Golden Apple and two Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School Awards.  Livonia Public Schools, educating nearly 15,000 students, is proud of their MEAP/MME scores that exceed state averages and the District has also earned Golden Apple and Michigan Blue Ribbon Exemplary School Awards.
