Letter from the Principal
Dear Saint Theresa School Families and Friends,

I wish to invite you to a couple of wonderful events. This Saturday, the Home School Association is hosting the International Night beginning at 6:30 pm in the gym. We have over 20 countries that will be represented with great food and entertainment. Next Saturday, November 12th, the Lions Club is hosting a fantastic evening of Wine Tasting with food catered from Sal's Restaurant in Monroe. Tickets for this event are available in the main office for a donation of $30.00 per person.

As we enter the month of November, please review the school calendar as we have scheduled a number of early dismissals and days off. On Election Day, November 8th, the teachers will be involved in a Professional Development Day and therefore, there is NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS.

The first marking period ends on Friday, November 4th. This year we have scheduled two days for parent teacher conferences for grades K-8. The afternoon session will be on Tuesday, November 15th from 1-3 pm. The evening session will be on Wednesday, November 16th from 6-8 pm.  On both of these conference days we are dismissing students in Pre-K at 11:30 am and K-8 at 12:30 pm. There will be after school care available on these days. This year we will follow the school and diocesan policy of not distributing report cards to students with delinquent tuition of over 30 days. Please call me or Ann Dunn with any questions.

I hope to see you on Saturday evening as we celebrate the great diversity of our school community.

Salvatore Vittoria
Principal
Please note: we will be testing the emergency broadcast system tomorrow at 10 am. You should receive an email, text and call from the school.

Please make sure you inform the office of any changes to your contact information.
Middle School Students should be printing their homework at home. Students are missing class time to go to the Computer Lab, because they are not prepared. A note will be required if there is a temporary issue with a printer at home. Thank you for your cooperation.

Asbestos Update
Dear Parents, Teachers and Employees,

On October 30, 1987 the Federal Government enacted legislation for application through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), entitled through the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA).  The law requires all elementary and secondary schools, both public and private, to conduct inspections to determine the location of asbestos containing materials and subsequently, to develop a management plan to ensure proper maintenance of these materials.  This legislation requires, moreover, that students' parents and teachers be appraised of the results of such inspections.  This notice is provided to comply with that requirement.

The Diocese of Bridgeport, in accordance with the Regulations of AHERA and Connecticut State Agencies, "Asbestos Containing Materials in Schools," has had asbestos inspections performed and Management Plans developed for your school.  These plans are designed to manage and control any asbestos containing materials or assumed asbestos containing materials in the school building.  Your school building is inspected every six months to determine any changes in the condition of these materials.  Additionally, the building is thoroughly re-inspected every three years by CT licensed asbestos inspectors following the same criteria as the original inspection.  These plans are on file in the main office of your school, and are available for review by appointment with the school principal.

Sincerely,

S. Vittoria
Principal

Our thanks to the families who will be representing our school!
International Night is this Saturday!!!!
The International Night will be this   Saturday, November 5th at 6:30 pm   .   This is an event where families will represent their culture and bring tasty treats from your family's recipes.     Bring your family and friends to experience a fun night with great food and learn a little more about a wonderful diversity of our community.     We hope to see you all there!

Bless us, O Lord, and these your gifts
Dear Parents,

The students in grades (Pre-K through 8) will be collecting nonperishable items for Blessed Sacrament Outreach Program.  This year their need is very great.  They have many families they need to provide Thanksgiving baskets for this year.  So with your generosity we can help Blessed Sacrament accomplish this task.

Therefore, students will be assigned a food item(s) to put in their classroom boxes.  If you would like to donate more than we request, all items are deeply appreciated.  We hope to have our
boxes overflowing with food this year, as we have always done in the past!

We are also asking that each child donate a dollar or two so that each teacher can purchase Stop & Shop gift cards to purchase the turkeys, hams and any other perishables they may need to meet their requests.  They also maintain a pantry all year for people in need, so we know they will use all that we can give.

Please send in your child's nonperishable assigned item(s) and your monetary donation to school by Wednesday, November 16th as the food shall be picked up on Friday, November 18th.  Thank you, as always for you generosity as we help others less fortunate than ourselves.  It also makes the children feel good and we love to see that on their faces.

Sincerely,
St. Theresa Teachers
Pre-K Picks Pumpkins from the Patch
The rain didn't stop these adventurers from heading to the farm!

What a great day to be in Pre-K!
Pumpkin fun for every one!
Trumbull's Read Aloud Day - Presidential Election Style
Sponsored by the Trumbull Rotary Club
The students enjoyed the wonderful books on the running for president for this year's Read Aloud.  Our thanks to the readers for taking the time to spend with the students!

The second grade had a great time deciding which issues would be their platform after reading Monster Needs Your Vote. A few that they came up with were stopping smoking, reducing crime and helping the poor people. Some of the groups had to argue their choices.  The future leaders of our country learning to work well together now!
The CT Future musicians regional concert was held at Notre Dame of West Haven. They played a selection of songs including Swan Lake, the Addams Family and theme from Star Trek. We had three band students achieve this level to preform. Congratulations!
Seventh Grade Plant and Animal Cell Project using STEM
The seventh grade created all of the features of either a plant or animals cell to help the school learn about the parts of the cell.
During the presentations Dr. Cheeseman was able to hear the student's process and challenges that they had to face and overcome in their design.

Tech Talk
The middle school is just completing their unit on Digital Citizenship.  In this feature the 7th grade will be sharing D.C. vocabulary and the 8th grade will share their marketing campaigns to increase D.C. awareness.
