Lots of planes, jets, noise and action set for 27th annual Stuart Air Show

STUART, FL (October 28, 2016) -- Next weekend, the skies over Stuart will be roaring and bursting with dozens of planes for the 27th annual Stuart Air Show at Witham Field.

The three-day event will feature some of the nation's top aviation performers and their prized aircraft, static displays, a kid's zone, carnival rides, authentic WWII parachute battle re-enactment, helicopter and airplane rides, and the ever-popular Friday Night Duty Suit Party featuring live entertainment, food and drinks, fireworks and thrilling twilight aircraft maneuvers.

An impressive lineup of aerial performers will take to the skies and dazzle spectators with their tactical flying maneuvers. Those from the military this year include:
  • US Navy Parachute Team, known as the US Navy Leap Frogs and comprised of all volunteer team of active-duty personnel drawn from Naval Special Warfare (NSW), including Navy SEALs, Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen (SWCC) and support personnel. (New this year.)
  • US Air Force F16 Viper Demonstration Team, centered around the "Fighting Falcon," a single-seat, multi-mission fighter with the ability to fly at speeds more than Mach 2 and the ability to switch from an air-to-ground to air-to-air role at the touch of a button.
  • US Navy F-18 Super Hornet, comprised of actual Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) instructors.
The lineup of civilian aerial performers include Patty Wagstaff, a six-time member of the US Aerobatic Team, who has won the gold, silver and bronze medals in Olympic-level international aerobatic competition; Trojan Horsemen, with their crowd-pleasing, large, fast and loud warbird T-28 Trojan aircraft; award winning aerobatic performer Skip Stewart Prometheus Pitts;  Matt Younkin flying his Beech 18, likely the most unusual act on the airshow circuit today since the Beech 18 was never designed for aerobatic flight; Bill Leff flying his vintage AT-6 "Texan" War Bird;  Bob Carlton Jet Powered Glider featuring graceful aerobatics choreographed to classical music; Randy Ball Mig-17 Jet Aerobatic, who has flown more than 1,000 performances, making him one of the most internationally recognized jet aerobatic pilots ever; Gary Rower, flying his vintage Stearman; and John Black, flying an American Champion Super Decathlon.

Throughout the weekend, visitors will be able to explore vintage and modern aircraft, including the Bell Boeing MV-22 Osprey, the first time displayed at the Stuart Air Show, USCG Sikorsky MH-60 Jayhawk, USN Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk, USAF Sikorsky UH-60 Blackhawk, USN F-18 Super Hornet, Beechcraft T-6II Texan, USAF Boeing C17 "Globemaster III", USAF Lockheed C130 "Hercules", North American P51 "Mustang", "Tico Belle" Douglas C47 "Skytrain", Aero L39 "Albatros", and many more.
