Every Saturday year-round. No reservations required.  Every last Saturday of the month we travel further afield than normal and return a little later.  Bird Walk locations are determined on the morning of the walk.All ages and birding abilities are welcome!

October 5, 2013   Cloudy and cold turning sunny and mild.
                                       30-50�F. 3-10 mph. 9 participants.

I started the morning walk with cold purple hands and ended up swatting mosquitos by the end. You can see from the slide show that we had varying lighting conditions. We ended up with a gorgeous fall morning. The waterfowl are starting to build in as the songbird migration wanes.

Red-Tailed Hawk
  I opted for drama in picking today's Bird of the Day. We had plenty of neat sightings, but when the red-tail flew toward us and landed in the tree right in front of us, that got me excited. This immature bird tried to go after a robin in the same tree, but it missed by a mile, of course. Hopefully, it will learn soon which situations give it the best chances for a meal.
