Resort Updates

Sandy Shores Resort

There is a lot going on at Sandy Shores Resort!  Here are a few updates:

Infrastructure:

1) The road was complete in the summer and is now maintained by the RM of Coteau.

2) Rolling and seeding of grass in the ditches on both the access road and within the development will occur either this fall or in the spring.

 3) Underground power installation was scheduled for this fall.  The initial timeframe of October has been delayed by contractors and weather.  Material is on site.  The contract was awarded to Pro Western Powerline from North Battleford.  Construction is anticipated to start in early November.

4) Quotes for potable and non-potable water delivery to lots are being sought from Engineering firms.  Once quotes are received, the engineering work can occur this winter.  WSA approval is needed and that approval timeframe is not known.

5) A quote for engineering the marina has been chosen.  The survey and engineering work will occur this winter.  Piles are expected in the winter of 2018.

6) SaskTel has submitted a verbal quote for GPON.  This would deliver internet and support the possibility of a tower offering improved mobility service.  YourLink service is also being considered. This is a very complicated project with several government agencies and requiring investment from other parties.  I anticipate it will not be installed in 2017 but advocacy and planning are occurring.

7) It is unlikely other utilities will be explored.

I welcome your thoughts and feedback on the infrastructure.  They are major projects.  The community association will be invited to discuss the future projects.

Lot Sales & Referrals:

Lot sales began in September. The first Lakefront lot #10 has been sold.  Titles have been transferred to 11 lot owners so far in 2016.  Other possessions are scheduled for the spring and summer of 2017.  I am excited to see the first cabin on site which is expected this fall!  Building permits and Health Region permits for septic tanks are available online (under Building Specifications).

Application to Construct Private Sewage Works
Building Permit Application for Lakeside/Parkside
Building Permit Application for Lakefront
Building Permit Application for RV/Park Model

I welcome your referrals to join the Sandy Shores Resort community!  I  will pay for any referrals that result in a lot sale.  Contact Rauncie or Shelley for details.

Lot sales are needed to proceed with the water treatment plant.  First, it is a significant capital project.   Second, user fees would be shared with a larger pool to keep fees low.  I have enlisted both Lane Realty and Remax Shoreline Realty to pursue lot sales.  I welcome your referrals and look forward to welcoming new families to Sandy Shores Resort.

Community Association (for Lot Owners):

I will work on drafting the Community Association document this fall. I anticipate it will allow one vote per lot.  I anticipate starting with a small board.  Please let me know if you are interested in a board position.  It will offer a voice for the lot owners in working forward with infrastructure and any development concerns.  I would appreciated any feedback on the structure or areas to be addressed within the document.
