Marinvent Corp. and EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY announced the expansion of their long-standing relationship. The organizations will cooperate on the development, testing and certification of the new avionics concepts and technologies that will become part of the FAA's revolutionary NextGen system. 

 

GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE CORP. announced that the Gulfstream G650 has received its provisional type certificate from the FAA. This clears the way for the company to begin interior completions of the ultra-large-cabin, ultra-long-range business jet in preparation for customer deliveries in the second quarter of 2012, as originally planned.

 

STANDARDAERO announced it has received third party certification for its environmental management system. The certification is in accordance with the International Organization for Standardization 14001:2004 standard for environmental management systems and covers StandardAero's global service network of 13 primary facilities in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Singapore and Australia, plus sales and field service locations.
 
UNIVERSAL AVIONICS announced that MICHELLE JAMES has accepted the newly created position of director of marketing and communications.
 

announced JOHN HAYES has joined its team as general manager at its Dallas, Texas, facility.

A State-by-State Economic Impact Survey 

  

The Alliance for Aviation Across America recently launched a wide-scale economic impact survey to outline the benefit of general aviation on businesses, local economies and communities around the nation. AEA Wired will highlight a different state each issue:

Aircraft: 13,238

Jobs: 15,500

Econ. Impact: $989 Million

Per Capita: $722

Fly With the Sporty's Foundation

The Sporty's Foundation, in conjunction with the Aircraft Electronics Association, will offer two $3,500 scholarships to AEA member technicians to be used toward a Recreational Pilot Certificate. Administered through the AEA Educational Foundation, the purpose of these scholarships is to give avionics technicians a greater insight into their work by being able to not just work on avionics, but to actually fly with them as a certificated pilot. Congress Passes Transportation Appropriations Bill

On Thursday, Nov. 17, Congress passed a bipartisan Fiscal Year 2012 "Mini-Bus" appropriations bill, which combines three funding bills into one for the current fiscal year. The bill supports important general aviation programs and services, and it will fund the Department of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development, which funds the Federal Aviation Administration. Language in the bill provides additional funding for more FAA certification personnel, an important measure to ensure new technologies are swiftly certified into the market. More...
