The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Christian Ministry for children aged 3-12 years that is based on the Bible and liturgy of the church; it is inspired by the principles of Montessori education. This Ministry provides:

  • An opportunity for children to fall in love with Jesus, the Good Shepherd, in a child-friendly space called an atrium - located in a church or school.
  • Guided activity to aid meditation on Bible scripture and the mysteries of the Christian faith once a week - in small groups, facilitated by trained adults (catechists).
  • That each child's unique spiritual needs and abilities are respected and nurtured.
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program has been authorized by Bishop Henry for our diocese.  We hope that we may be able to invite the Junior Kindergarten classes into our atrium before Christmas. At present, we are collecting and creating materials and we are looking for donations. We are excited that we will be able to offer this program for our young  learners!

In setting up our Atrium for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Program, Ms. Morrison and Miss Oliphant are looking for the following donations:

a low wooden coffee table to serve as a prayer table and for Nativity figures.
- desk/table lamps (3-4)
- sacred art (framed or unframed)
- statue of the Good Shepherd (between 18" and 24" tall)
- child-sized cleaning tools: broom, mop, dustpan, hand brush, duster
- large leather-bound Bible (with text and images)
- holy cards (paper or plastic)
- candle snuffer (4-5)
- world globe
- nativity set made of non-breakable materials with figurines no larger than 8'' (3 sets needed)

For the Out of School Care Program, we are looking for:

- used dress-up clothes that the children can use for play.

Donations may be dropped off to Keller Hall.
Thank you in advance for your help and generosity!
Play Holy-Mon GO!

Mr. Mansfield's Grade 5 Boys Class Piloting the Holy-Mon Go game.

Holy-Mon is back and it's better than ever! Do you remember those cards about the saints? Well this brilliant Holy-Mon card idea was created by our one and only Mrs. Mary Beth Manarey. She created Holy-Mon 18 years ago in 1998 because of all the hype with the Pokemon cards.

The recent release of the well-known game "Pokemon GO" has sparked an idea by two of our Grade 9 boys: Chidiebere Okonkwo and Stephen Zymela. They have essentially created the same Pokemon GO game play but with the Holy-Mon twist. They wanted to create a "Holy-Mon GO" game that has some of the same elements as Pokemon GO. They hope that the game will be a way for students to have fun but also learn a little about the saints.

Holy-Mon GO! kicked off on October 24, 2016, becoming an instant hit! The game was first piloted to the Grade 5 boys who gave the game rave reviews and couldn't wait to play again. With codes hidden all around the school campus, it definitely did raise suspense upon both students and teachers. Some CWA staff were quick to grab their phones to see what these mysterious codes might be, and in the end, found these codes to be a unique way to share our Catholic history in modern society to all age groups.

Students, parents, and teachers can now go around the school and look for little QR scan codes which you can scan and learn about the different saints. While the students are running the trial version of the game, we would like to ask for the utmost respect from students to please not move or destroy any of the QR codes. Thank you and have fun!

To participate, all you need to do is download an app called "QR Code Reader" or a similar alternative conveniently found on the App Store and Google Play Store. You can also see the Holy-Mon GO website for details. Have fun!
