ASTRONICS CORP. announced its wholly-owned subsidiary, DME Corporation, which specializes in aircraft emergency & safety and search & rescue products, announced it is launching the world's smallest and lightest Personal Locator Beacon for use in aviation, marine and outdoor environments. The SATRO PLB will be available for sale in December 2011.

AVIDYNE CORP. introduced the IFD510 SBAS/LPV/RNP-capable GPS navigation system with touchscreen user interface. The IFD510 is a slide-in replacement for existing GPS500/W GPS-only navigators found in many turbo-prop and light jet aircraft, and is an extension of Avidyne's recently-announced plug-and-play avionics line, which includes the IFD540, touch-screen FMS/GPS/Nav/Comm.

GARMIN INTERNATIONAL INC. announced that GARY KELLEY, its vice president of marketing, is retiring from the company at the end of the year.

JEPPESEN announced that charter operator Corporate Flight Management has received authorization from the FAA to use the recently introduced Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck app for iPad as an alternative to paper aeronautical charts. The authorization allows Corporate Flight Management to begin a systematic transition from paper to iPad with Jeppesen Mobile FliteDeck as the sole reference for electronic enroute and terminal charts in all phases of flight.

STANDARDAERO Business Aviation announced it has completed a Pro Line 21 upgrade with wide area augmentation system/localizer performance with vertical guidance (WAAS/LPV) on a Falcon 20 aircraft. This marks the first Falcon 20 completed with the WAAS/LPV option included as part of the Pro Line 21 flight deck upgrade.

TRUENORTH AVIONICS announced it has added ANDREW NASMITH as director of strategic aviation solutions, representing the company's full line of airborne telecommunications products.

The AEA Ambassador Program

The AEA Ambassador Program was created to encourage stronger professional relationships between AEA Repair Station Members and FAA Flight Standards District Offices. As an ambassador, AEA Member representatives agree to keep local FSDOs informed about AEA events, meetings and news.

Since its inception, the Ambassador Program has helped to increase FAA personnel attendance at the AEA regional meetings and annual convention, plus enhance ASIs' awareness of the mission of the AEA.
