General Aviation: A State-by-State Economic Impact Survey

 

The Alliance for Aviation Across America launched a wide-scale economic impact survey to outline the benefit of general aviation on businesses, local economies and communities around the nation. AEA Wired will highlight a different state each issue:

 

Nebraska

 

Airports: 84

Pilots: 5,348

Aircraft: 2,756

Jobs: 5,953

Econ. Impact: $721 million

Per Capita: $409

 

Note: There are nearly a million takeoffs and landings each year in Nebraska.

General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in 2009, to inform members and staff about the importance of GA to the nation's economy and transportation system. To date, 186 members of the U.S. Congress have signed on to the General Aviation Caucus. Click below to see if your elected representative is a member. U.S. House Small Business Committee to Conduct Hearing on Aviation User Fees
On Wednesday, Sept. 12, the U.S. House of Representatives Small Business Committee will conduct a hearing titled User Fees in the Aviation Industry: Turbulence Ahead. AIN released this year's product support survey results. On a one to 10 scale, AIN readers rated cockpit avionics manufacturers and cabin electronics manufacturers. The cockpit avionics manufacturers ratings were led by Garmin with an overall average rating of 8.3. The cabin electronics manufacturers were led by Aircell with an overall average rating of 8.0.
