AHLERS AEROSPACE has been selected by Bell Helicopter as the supplier of the dual tachometer for the 407 model.
 
ASTRONICS CORP. announced it has acquired privately-held Max-Viz Inc., a developer and designer of Enhanced Vision Systems for fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft through both OEM and aftermarket channels in the general aviation, commercial and military aerospace markets.
 
AVIDYNE CORP. announced it is actively working with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the FAA on the airborne traffic situational awareness with alerts (TSAA) program for ADS-B. The FAA-funded TSAA program includes the prototyping and demonstration of functional hardware, along with the drafting of the industry standards for conflict detection and alerting to be adopted by ADS-B vendors.
 
AVOTEK INFORMATION RESOURCES announced the release of the third edition of its "Introduction to Aircraft Maintenance" textbook. This textbook is the first in its series of four Aviation Maintenance Technician textbooks. This series covers the basic curriculum for CFR Part 147 schools.
 
FLIGHT DISPLAY SYSTEMS introduced Fly HD, a new concept in aircraft video technology. Fly HD is a complete high-definition system that is easy to install and provides full 1080p video quality.
 
JEPPESEN and GARMIN now offer Jeppesen's NavData navigation information and charting services in several bundle service options for G1000 avionics systems. Garmin G1000 avionics systems supported by Jeppesen data feature large-format, high-resolution displays for enhanced situational awareness in the cockpit for business and general aviation operators.

General Aviation: A State-by-State Economic Impact Survey

 

The Alliance for Aviation Across America launched a wide-scale economic impact survey to outline the benefit of general aviation on businesses, local economies and communities around the nation. AEA Wired will highlight a different state each issue:

Pilots: 15,882

Aircraft: 6,814

Jobs: 16,000

Econ. Impact: $2.4 billion

 

Note: More than 160,000 tons of air cargo are transported every year in Missouri.

General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in 2009, to inform members and staff about the importance of GA to the nation's economy and transportation system. New ADS-B Terminal Services Are Now Available
The FAA Safety Team announced that new ADS-B terminal services are now available. Pilots who use the terminal airspace listed on the document can now receive free traffic and weather information in the cockpit. To receive these services, aircraft must be equipped with an ADS-B transmitter/receiver or transceiver and a cockpit display of traffic information.

RVSM Maintenance & Advanced Transponder Training Class

Attendees will be introduced to the regulations, documentation, test equipment and maintenance practices associated with performing RVSM maintenance and will follow with an in-depth look at Mode S transponders. This course assumes the attendee has good operating knowledge of FAR 91.411 and 91.413.
