The Alliance for Aviation Across America launched a wide-scale economic impact survey to outline the benefit of general aviation on businesses, local economies and communities around the nation. AEA Wired will highlight a different state each issue:

The AEA has received second-hand information that various user groups, as well as certain FAA inspectors, have incorrectly assumed and promoted that the Part 145 NPRM proposal ONLY applies to repair stations that cater to Part 121 air carriers. This proposal applies to ALL repair stations regardless of its customer bases. This proposal makes wholesale changes to the avionics industry with damaging and costly repercussions. The FAA proposes to remove radio and instrument ratings and allow airframe-rated repair stations to work on radio and instrument components without qualifications or ratings. More...

AEA Scholarship Applications Available Online
The AEA Educational Foundation will award scholarships for the 2013-14 school year to students pursuing a career in avionics or aircraft maintenance, as well as students from AEA member companies. In addition, Universal Avionics is sponsoring a new scholarship available for the first time this year.
The foundation was created in 1990 to enhance, promote and secure the future of aviation and the AEA by furthering the education of students, technicians, members of the AEA and others as determined by aviation industry needs.
Since its inception, the AEA scholarship program has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships. Numerous awards are available, ranging from $1,000 to more than $35,000 each.
Requests for complete scholarship packages are available online at www.aea.net/scholarship. The deadline for returning applications is Feb. 15, 2013. Scholarships will be awarded during the 56th annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show, which takes place March 25-28, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nev.
