A Message from Dr. Eucker about STEM Gives

First, we are very grateful for the work of our school's PTO and the launching of STEM Gives. STEM has not, in the past, cultivated a climate of giving that is necessary for most Charter Schools to survive. Our PTO leaders recognized this need and stepped forward this year, to work with all of you, to make a difference. Thank you.

Don't Miss  our New and Wonderful Parent Information Series!

The parent series "Navigating Transitions," offered by the High School Counseling Department starts next week.

The first series session is September 26th. One night, two sessions:
  • Senior Parents Nuts and Bolts (5-5:45 p.m.):  Very important overview of the nuts and bolts of preparing students to graduate from STEM and pursue their college and/or career goals. Sign up required.
     
  • Financing College for Junior and Senior Parents (6-7 p.m.): Jay Murray, from Solutions for Tuition, will once again offer this free workshop for junior and senior parents on financing college. Sign up required.

Wear Your Passions Day

To kick off National Bullying Prevention Month in October, the Allies in Diversity club wants to celebrate what makes you unique and what you love!

"Wear Your Passions" day is set for October 4th, a day where you can come to school dressed in costume as something or someone you are passionate about.

From September 25-October 3rd, Spart Mart will be selling $1 wristbands needed to participate. Hats are not allowed, but creativity is encouraged. Students must meet the dress code.

SpartMart Online Store is Live

High School Entrepreneurship students have been working hard to build the new e-commerce SpartMart website and it is now ready to go. You can order your STEM merchandise online from anywhere!  Be sure to take a look at the new SpartMart website

They are also working on designing new hoodies, water bottles, coffee mugs, and much more! Be on the lookout for these items in the next two weeks.

They appreciate your patience as they streamline their new order fulfillment process in the first few weeks. Once an order is placed, you will be contacted directly regarding item pick-up.  Pick-ups will take place either at the front Middle School office or by having your student stop by room 236.

Lost and Found
Please have your student check the lost & found before Fall Break (it will be donated over the break).  Parents may want to take a look as well if they are in the school for conferences!
Volunteering Opportunities

Staff Appreciation
On Friday, September 22nd there is no school for students. This is a professional development day for staff. We are still in need of a few items. If you are interested in providing items for breakfast, please  click here  to view the sign up sheet .

High School Homecoming Dance / Powder Puff Game
The student government is looking for food and drink donations for the dance, and tutus for the Powder Puff game.  If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity,  click here  to view the sign up sheet. 

Donation Opportunities: 
Remember that every $20 = 1 volunteer hour. Just make the conversion and log in the appropriate event. By the way, as Fall season hits, we are desperately in need of tissues! Other needs:

MSanchorAttention 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders

Grades 7 and 8 will take the PSAT 8/9 test on October 5th. Sixth graders will have a  Virtual Day  on October 5th. Seventh graders will arrive at 7:45 a.m. and test until 11 a.m. (leaving school after testing). Eighth graders will arrive at 11:45 a.m. and test until 3 p.m. More info can be found  here

Please note: Lunch will not be provided for middle school students on October 5th. The lunchroom will be closed for testing.

Middle School Movie Night

The Middle School Student Government presents Movie Night

When: Friday, September 29th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Where: Rooms E222, E223, and E224. There will be a different movie playing in each room.
What: Superheroes themed movies:   X Men, Spiderman, and The Incredibles

Please note that X Men and Spiderman are both rated PG-13 and all students wishing to view these movies must have a permission slip.

Restaurant Night Cuba Cuba Sandwicheria - Wed. 9/27

Join us for our first Restaurant Night of the year at Cuba Cuba Sandwicheria
at 9567 S University Blvd. on  Wednesday, September 27th anytime between  11 a.m. to 
9 p.m

Cuba Cuba will donate 20% of all proceeds from STEM family and friends. Great for lunch or dinner. Just mention you are part of the STEM fundraiser! Please  RSVP  if you plan on attending, however you do not have to RSVP to go. It just helps the restaurant plan for projected attendance.

Robotics - FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) for Grades 7-12

FTC is one of the Robotics challenges designed and executed by FIRST Robotics for Middle and High School students. FTC teams are challenged to design, build, program, and operate robots to play a floor game in an alliance format. The STEM FTC team will meet Wednesday and Friday afternoons after school. At these meetings, the students will collaborate to design, build, and program a robot. Read more about FTC on our website.

Beginner Model Rocketry

We are looking to start a new Beginner Model Rocketry program for Middle and High School students on Thursday afternoons, to start after Fall Break. Click here to express your interest.
