Take a Bite Out of Hunger
October 30, 2016, 10:00 am

Since back in 2010, the Jewish community has been making part of its New Year and High Holiday traditions  - even rituals - volunteering at the Regional Food Bank. We only missed one year - last fall when we did something a little bit different - serving a weekend meal at the Homeless Alliance which led to the Social Action committee of Temple B'nai Israel beginning a monthly meal service at the Homeless Alliance, which is ongoing.

This year, we'll be back volunteering together at the Regional Food Bank. It is always meaningful to help take a big bite out of hunger around the time of the High Holidays. This year it will be extra meaningful for us all to get back to the Food Bank.
The day is also the unveiling of friend and role model, Michael Barlow, which will take place at the Emanuel Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
Michael was one of the greatest leaders our Jewish community has ever had - an active part of every organization. Certainly, whenever we worked at the Food Bank, he was there - no bad back was going to stop him. So it is only fitting that on the day dedicated to remembering and honoring him we will be reminded and be thinking of how he constantly honored us by his tremendous service and mensch-hood.

This is ICSS for the day. Please remember that registration begins at 9:30 am, and there are NO classes at the temple.

We hope to see as many of you as possible at the Food Bank on Sunday, October 30, 10:00 am to 12 noon. G'mar Hatima tov- may you be favorably inscribed in the Book of Life. Happy 5777!
