MMA's Annual Conference is This Weekend in Rochester
There's still time to sign up for this weekend's Annual Conference in Rochester. The event opens Friday, Sept. 22 with a pre-conference reception from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Mayo Civic Center. A full day of activities begins with an Open Issues Forum at 7 a.m. on Saturday and continues throughout the day with a series of educational and policy sessions. The morning keynote will focus on the opioid epidemic. The Theater of Public Policy performs its own brand of improv comedy at 4 p.m. The day concludes with another reception from 5 to 7 p.m. You won't want to miss it!
Senate Select Committee Considers Changing Payment Systems
The Senate Select Committee on Health Care Access and Affordability continued its busy schedule with a meeting on Sept. 14 that focused on efforts to change the payment systems from "fee-for-service" to a "Total Cost of Care" approach. Read more here
Medical Students Seeking Physician Mentors to Help with Opioid Campaign
The medical student-run Hands on Advocacy project is seeking physicians and other health care professionals to help with its 2017-2018 campaign, which will focus on the opioid epidemic. Read more here.
