Town Administrator's E-Brief From Town Administrator, Eric DeMoura Town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina |

Dear Mount Pleasant residents and business owners,
I am pleased to provide you with this month's E-brief, full of the latest news and updates from the Town of Mount Pleasant. We are moving into our big holiday season with events and activities for the entire family to enjoy.
We have much to be grateful for in this community and as we begin preparations for the Thanksgiving holiday, I can't help but express my utmost appreciation for the many public employees, community advocates, and courageous citizens for their assistance during Hurricane Matthew. I would like to report that, overall, our town suffered only moderate damage from the hurricane due to the diligence of our citizens in making their own preparations, as well as the hard work and commitment of public employees. Please keep in mind, that while most of us here in Mount Pleasant have moved on from the hurricane, many of our neighbors have not and will not for some time. We are working hard to complete debris removal and assess the impact to our stormwater system, but these actions will take time. The most work-intensive part of any natural disaster, no matter the impact, is the clean-up. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to restore our town.
There are several upcoming meetings and events scheduled for November, so I invite you to sign up to our Notify Me module and stay updated on the latest Town news, projects, and events. For more information about all that is happening in the Town of Mount Pleasant, please visit us

Best Regards,

Part of the Memorial Waterfront Park complex, the 1250-foot long Mount Pleasant Pier stretches out into Charleston Harbor under the foot of the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge. The pier's foundation was created from pared-down pilings from the old Silas N. Pearman Bridge.
Visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the bridge and harbor from the pier's bench swings and shade structures. Hurricane Matthew Debris Removal Update
We are working very hard to collect all storm debris from neighborhoods as quickly as possible. The Town contracted with AshBritt to assist the Mount Pleasant Public Services Department in collecting and disposing of storm debris. The
Cities of Greer, Anderson and Rock Hill, SC, as well as Anderson County, SC have also sent crews to assist with the cleanup. Our team is working seven days a week in multiple zones across the town to get the job done. We appreciate our citizens' patience and understanding as we work to remove the vast amounts of debris. To expedite the removal process, please assist our crews by consolidating debris piles with neighbors, if possible, and moving the piles away from structures such as fire hydrants and mailboxes. To stay up to date on the debris removal process, as well as where crews will be working, please follow us on
Facebook and
Twitter, or sign up for our
Notify Me service.
