Athletics Complex Heads to Walnut Creek Planning Commission This Thursday!

Carondelet's  plans to build a state-of-the-art athletics complex for our girls will go before the Walnut Creek Planning Commission this Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. We are encouraging our families and supporters to get our message across loud and clear that this project is important to the experiences and opportunities for our girls.

For 50 years, Carondelet's student athletes have had no fields or outdoor facilities to call home. Our young women deserve better. They deserve to have the same opportunities and experiences as our brothers across the street and the other high school students in the area. It is time to level the playing field.

The meeting on Oct. 27 is the final step to obtain the essential Planning Commission recommendation in order to proceed on to the City Council in November for final approval.

Join us in sending a strong message to the city that our young women deserve equity, and they deserve a safe, welcoming "home field" to practice, play, and build the lasting bonds of sisterhood that open up future opportunities and last a lifetime.

Here's how you can help:
  1. Sign our petition today!
  2. Share the petition with your friends by email or through social media, including Facebook.
  3. Attend the Walnut Creek Planning Commission meeting on Thursday in your Cougars gear to show your support. Please RSVP here so we know how many people to expect.
Carondelet's New STEM Additions Include 3D Printer

By Caitlin Papalia '20

This year, Carondelet had the privilege of purchasing a 3D printer for our school
community. The uPrint SE PLUS® 3D print er, from the brand Stratysys®, allows you to make three-dimensional models of objects that look exactly like the real thing, but are made of plastic.

This technology can help in the process of inventing new ideas and concepts. Models are created initially from a software application such as computer aided drafting, known as CAD. The image is then transferred over to the 3D printer after everything is drawn out so that it can be made into a plastic model.

According to Mr. Randy Grishaber, one of our physics teachers and The Engineering Club @ Carondelet (TECC) moderator, "As a unique application of this type of technology, x-ray images from a patient can be converted into a three-dimensional computer model that the printer can read and then print out so that a physician could see a patient's actual anatomy prior to conducting an operation." Mikayla Scott '17 Named the 2017 D.A.R. Good Citizen

Each fall, Carondelet is invited by the Anne Loucks Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to select a student as our D.A.R. Good Citizen.

The faculty and staff select three seniors who they believe exemplify the core values of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism, which are the cornerstones of the D.A.R. This year, the faculty and staff selected Sophia Colello, Vanessa Dalpiaz and Mikayla Scott.

Of these three exemplary nominees, the senior class selected Mikayla Scott as the class of 2017 D.A.R. Good Citizen. Now, Mikayla will have the opportunity to compete for our local chapter's scholarship. Congratulations, Mikayla!
