Parent Club Meeting
Wednesday, November 2nd
Garces Chapel
5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Garces should have the best Parent Club in our community - let's make it happen!

The Garces Parent Club will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, November 2nd at 5:30 PM in Monsignor Leddy Hall.  All of our parents are encouraged to come to the meeting to hear about the vision for the future of the Parent Club.  The discussion will be led by Parent Club President, Michelle Pisano.  After speaking with several parents, administrators, and her past experience with St. Francis School's PTO Program, Michelle would like to see the Garces Parent Club expand and find ways to support the school with a focus on the faith formation of our students.  She would like to find opportunities for parents to share their gifts and talents while supporting student events. But the first step is to hear from parents about how they want to help - whether that is through mentoring new families, helping with Campus Ministry activities, providing snacks or treats for student milestone events, assisting with teacher appreciation activities, or offering outreach to Garces families during times of need.

Thank you to those of you who have already joined Parent Club.  We look forward to seeing you on the 2nd. To join the Parent Club, we are asking for a $20 contribution and in return members received a travel mug and a parent directory.  The funds are to assist the Parent Club with providing support to the school.  We will have membership forms available on the 2nd, but you do not need to be a member to attend the meeting.  Everyone is welcome.
Garces Canned Food Drive

Students will be asked to bring in donations to their home room class on the following dates:
  • Monday, 11/7
  • Wednesday, 11/9
  • Monday, 11/14
  • Wednesday, 11/16
  • Friday, 11/18
The class who brings in the most donations per student will win a pizza party. Every non-perishable item will count as one (1). You can send canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned beans, canned meats, canned soup, bags of rice, and bags of beans.  You can also send pasta, pasta sauce, mac and cheese, etc. Anything that has a long shelf life will help to feed the needy in our community.

College Applications

Most colleges (except the UC System) require an official transcript to complete the application. Students must submit a Transcript Release Form to his/her counselor or Garces is unable to send an official transcript. Most colleges also require official SAT/ACT scores sent directly from the testing agency. Students must log in to his/her account and request those scores be sent. If a student needs a letter of recommendation from his/her teacher or counselor, the student must first request one in person. Next, the student must request one online through Family Connection. Please don't wait until the last minute. These documents usually require several days to several weeks to complete. Students may request these documents even before they have submitted their application. Please have your student see his/her counselor with any questions. They will gladly help with the process.
