Diane Coffee (aka Shaun Fleming) -- the "finest arbiters of retro rock realness" ( BUST ) -- today released "Poor Man Dan," one of two new singles from the PEEL 7" out October 20th, 2017 on Polyvinyl. It's the follow-up to 2015's acclaimed Everybody's A Good Dog LP  (Western Vinyl), which saw the Bloomington, IN-based musician make his debut on NPR Music 's Tiny Desk Concert and Comedy Bang Bang , and earn praise from WXPN, Stereogum , Interview Magazine , Nerdist, and more. "Poor Man Dan" finds Shaun Fleming at his most emotionally charged, recording multiple harmonies of his own voice to create a gospel choir effect, and backed by a brass section. "Both tracks deal with pain," says Diane Coffee's Shaun Fleming. "'Poor Man Dan' is about an urban legend of my childhood. A neighborhood man who loses his daughter starts killing kids from the block to give her someone to play with." Listen to "Poor Man Dan" here: https://youtu.be/3khOgkDt6tw

Diane Coffee kicks off a headlining fall tour with a performance at the Music Taste Good Festival in Long Beach, CA on September 30th. The tour includes shows at Washington, DC's DC9 on November 7th and at Brooklyn, NY's Rough Trade on November 8th (a full itinerary is listed below). Tickets are on sale now: http://bit.ly/1JQwscE

Fleming says of the PEEL 7", "These two songs were originally intended for another full length album," adding, "However, as I began the writing process, the concept and direction of the album changed. I was suddenly left with several tracks that I loved but no longer fit the project. Getting these songs out allowed me to discover what I actually wanted to create. They were the concepts' protective layer. But just as the PEEL of the kiwi has as much nutrition as the fruit inside, these exploratory tracks too, should be consumed." Diane Coffee's first new single in two years arrives after surprise dropping an orchestral live cover of Pink Floyd's "Eclipse" ( Dark Side of the Moon ) during the rare solar eclipse on August 21st.

Often described as "psychedelic Motown" and "R&B Through Bowie" ( Village Voice ), Shaun Fleming's music has caught the attention from the likes of Run the Jewels (which sampled Diane Coffee on "Crown"), to Pitchfork , SPIN , Uncut, Magnet, and more. Diane Coffee's debut LP My Friend Fish was called "a revelation" ( NME ) and "superb" ( Q ). Even before he released a note of music as Diane Coffee, Shaun Fleming had quite a portfolio of work -- as former Foxygen drummer, child actor, and semi-professional skateboarder. Of Diane Coffee's live show, NPR Music raved, "Diane Coffee gives the kind of live performances you talk about for weeks after seeing. Conjuring both Mick Jagger and David Bowie, Fleming swaggers and shimmies on stage."

Other praise for Diane Coffee:

"Fleming's unpredictable nature lends some of its erratic qualities to create provocative music. The result is a deep exploration of sonic pleasure, influenced by varying concepts and genres, and Fleming's constant evolution" - Interview Magazine

"Coffee is the new young king of the midwest, unafraid to dial back his flair" - Nerdist

"Smooth and soulful...  embraces the glitter of The Supremes' vocal harmonies, the glam of David Bowie's Aladdin Sane and the hooks of T. Rex" - NPR Music
