Sustainability is Service: Community Action 2017 at PEEC
|
Before the start of the new academic year, nearly 90 members of the Princeton Class of 2021 explored how engaging in the process of sustainability is service on their Community Action (CA) trip with the
Pocono Environmental Education Center
(PEEC).
|

|
Donate Gently Used T-Shirts at the GreenSpace
|
Do you have too many t-shirts? Donate them at the GreenSpace Kiosk! All shirts will be donated to the Trenton Rescue Mission which serves the truly needy
men and women who have no place to turn for shelter, food, and clothing. The Mission provides a safe, clean, warm refuge for the homeless, the hungry, the transient and the addicted.

University Opens New Child Care Center
|
On Tuesday, Sept. 5, more than 150 children and teachers began their first day at the new Princeton Childcare Center
. The Center has several green features, including solar panels, super-insulated walls, low-flow plumbing and storm-water management.
|
|
|
Swap 'til you drop at the EcoReps Clothing Swap on Saturday, October 7 in Frist 206 and 207. Clothing donations can be dropped off from September 25-October 6 at any Residential College Dining hall, the Frist Front Desk and select eating clubs. No need to donate in order to participate in the swap. All leftover clothing will be donated to charity.

Academic: Dr. Paul Gauthier
|
As a
Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Geosciences Department, Dr. Paul Gauthier studies plant carbon balance and the adaptation of plants in regulating this balance under different environments. As part of his research he developed the
Princeton Vertical Farming Project
to tackle the current limitations and environmental issues that face the vertical farming industry.

In last spring’s course,
ENE 202: Designing Sustainable Systems
taught by Dr. Forrest Meggers, eight teams of students gained hands-on experience with designing and testing solutions to address sustainability challenges on campus.
For their junior papers, students in Professor Denise Mauzerall’s WWS 402 junior task force:
Sustainability at Princeton University: Lessons for Campus and the World
, recommended policy frameworks to guide sustainability efforts both on and off campus.

Faculty from all four divisions may propose up to two innovative research projects that encourage faculty to collaborate with undergraduate and/o
r graduate students on studies that help promote cam

”
approach.
