Weekly Reflection
Last week we hosted our annual homecoming celebration. I want to thank all who came to worship with us, as well as all the people who made sure we had name tags, food, decorations, and fabulous music. We also celebrated the life and ministry of Dyanna Tardd. So many people volunteered to help create a space that allowed for reflection, grief, and fellowship. There is indeed a Sweet, Sweet, Spirit in this place.
Upcoming, we will be making some improvements in how we communicate to the parish and the wider community. Starting in October you will receive a monthly newsletter on the first Tuesday of the month. The newsletter will include a reflection, Tuesday Concert Series info, and a calendar of events. Eventually, we plan to make sure that information about all ministry leaders, space usage requests, and anything else that occurs at Epiphany shows up in the newsletter. The last day to submit information to Arrien will be the last Friday of every month. More details about this new approach to the newsletter will be outlined to those who are responsible for organizing counters, ushers, altar guild, and LEMs. On the other Tuesdays of the month, communication will come from the church regarding any schedule changes, urgent messages, or happenings that were not previously published.
Also, with the consent and blessing of the vestry we will begin a
9:30am service of Holy Eucharist in the Mission Center. This service will be led primarily by our seminarian, Joshua Daniel. The goal of this service is to provide a worship experience that more fully incorporates our younger members and uses music in some different ways. We are going to try this service for a period of time to see if we are able to meet the needs of a different group of people. If we decide that this is not as successful as we would like, we can discontinue the service in June of 2018.
This upcoming
Sunday I look forward to marching to Empower the Homeless. The march will begin after the
8:00am service. All are invited to participate so that we may reflect for the wider community the urgency of respecting the rights of all, particularly the homeless.

Worship at Epiphany
Empower the Homeless Walk
Sunday, September 24
All are invited to join us for this year's Walk to Empower the Homeless on Sunday, September 24. The walk will begin immediately following the 8:00am service. We will walk together from Epiphany to the White House and back. The walk usually takes about 30 minutes.
In conjunction with the Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington, this walk is an effort to raise funds to help end homelessness in our area.
If would like to support
Samaritan Ministry and their work which directly impacts 1,000 homeless and downtown poor, please bring cash or a check for $25 payable to "Samaritan Ministry."

Tuesday Concert Series
September 26, 2017 at 12:10pm
The Carya Ensemble, featuring Sonya Sutton and Sophia Vastek on piano and the voices of Mary Shaffran, Andrew Brown and James Shaffran, offer Claude Debussy's Printemps (1887) and his rarely performed Cantata L'enfant Prodigue (The Prodigal Son).
Admission is free but a donation of $10 is suggested
to support the Concert Series.
Jeremy Filsell, Director of Music and the Choir of the Church of the Epiphany cordially invite you to join them for a Black Tie Gala held at the University Club of Washington.
The evening will include a silent auction and a special performance by the choir.
