Dear Saint Rose Families,

This has been a week of community.  We had a tremendous celebration of our school and its anniversary on Saturday at Harrison Rally Day.  Our float took first place!  I had a great time walking with our families in the parade.  It was fun to see so many school and parish families attend the ice cream social following the parade.  Mrs. Schumaker, Mrs. Kang, Ms. Weiner, Mrs. Dubois and Mrs. Areddy deserve a big 'thank you' for their hard work in making this day possible.
Saturday and Sunday were also days to celebrate as Dr. Dan Brahier, our 8th Grade Honors Math teacher, was ordained as a Deacon. Congratulations to Deacon Dr. Dan Brahier!
Grandparents Day was a tremendous success.  We had over 300 visitors! We know that many students are at Saint Rose because of the support of their grandparents.  Some have their tuitions paid by their grandparents or they get dropped off and picked up every day by grandparents.  Maybe grandparents help with academic support or spiritual formation.  I know that I will be forever indebted to my own grandfather and his help through 8th grade math!  Grandparents are a big part of our community and I am happy that we can spend a portion of our day with them. Thank you to our faculty, staff, maintenance team and parents for helping to make this day possible.
Wednesday was our second Donuts for Dads.  We had a packed full house!  Donuts always make for a fun start to the day.  Dads, if you enjoyed the fellowship during this short period, please consider attending Men's Night Out on November 20.  This is a fun night of football, fellowship and incredible food. The evening benefits the parish CYO programs.
The theme of community extends into the weekend with our first grade level Mass on Sunday at the 9am Mass.   It looks like we will have a strong showing of 7th and 8th grade families.
Have a great weekend and I hope to see you at Mass.

Sincerely,

Bryon Borgelt

HARRISON RALLY DAY
Saint Rose Catholic School had a wonderful time celebrating its 150th anniversary as part of Harrison Rally Day.  The school's float, designed and constructed by Saint Rose teachers and students, was awarded the prize of 'best float' by Perrysburg Pet Lodge and Spa.  We had a strong showing of community members for the parade. Our alumni committee provided an ice cream social following the parade, which was very much appreciated on the hot day.  Thank you very much to our faculty, staff, students and parents for their help in making the day a success. See the fun from the day HERE.

Grandparent's Day
I hope that your family enjoyed this special day. Thank you to Mrs. Schumaker for planning the day, Mrs. Croci for lending her time and talents to take the photos and the entire Saint Rose faculty and staff for their support.  Please enjoy just a fraction of the images captured from the day. More will be added, so check back often. CLICK HERE to view photos.

Pirate Day & Spirit Day

Don't forget...TOMORROW, Friday, September 22 is "Talk Like a Pirate Day". Students may dress in their pirate garb, and don't forget to say "aarrrrgh!"

Spirit Day: Next Friday
September 29 is the Fall Pep Rally.  At the end of the day, the school will gather to celebrate all of the students participating in CYO sports at Saint Rose.  The entire student body is invited to wear either their CYO uniform shirt or a Saint Rose spirit wear shirt along with their uniform skirt or pants/shorts.  GO PIRATES!

Kroger Community Rewards

It is time to print your Kroger Community Rewards balance.  Please send the print-out to the Saint Rose School office to the attention of Alison Ray-Kobler.  To ensure that we have the most up to date information on file, please also write the name of the St. Rose child/family who should receive the credit for your earnings (if applicable).  The only way we are able to assign the Kroger Community Rewards to a specific Scrip account is by having the Scrip participants print and submit their Kroger Community Rewards donation amount. Thank you.

Class Mass 2017-18

Class Mass for Grades 7-8
THIS SUNDAY, September 24  9am Mass
RSVP and Sign up to Greet and Bring up Offertory

The first Class Mass will be held on Sunday, Sept. 24 at the 9:00 am Mass.  Families with students in grades 7-8 are invited to worship together and to gather for a light reception to socialize in the Sacred Heart Center (school cafeteria) following Mass.  This is a wonderful time to strengthen or create bonds of Christian friendship.

Please click HERE to RSVP with the number who will be attending so that pews can be reserved in the front near the Saint Joseph altar and so that food can be provided.   You can also sign up for your family to bring up the Offertory gifts and to be Greeters before Mass.  Alternatively, you may RSVP with your family name and number of attendees by emailing Anne Brahier at [email protected].

The Parish/School Relations Subcommittee hopes that many families from the school and parish will attend!

Room Parent Volunteers

Your child's classroom is in need of volunteers to sign up as
room parents!

Room Parent Volunteers are simply parent helpers for each classroom. You will meet with your child's teacher to coordinate activities, dates and times and assign other parents to help out with snacks, crafts, etc. as the teacher instructs. We will need 2 parents per classroom and sign up will be on a first come, first serve basis, so please sign up ASAP! Also, this year we are trying something different: we would like to keep in contact with you to receive feedback about your classroom and to make sure your year is running as smooth as possible. Thank you in advance for volunteering your time and talents, because without you, these parties would not be possible!

In honor of Saint Rose School's 150th anniversary, we'd like to hear what you LOVE most about our school!
We are hoping to collect at least 150 reasons why we LOVE Saint Rose School!
What do YOU love most about Saint Rose School?

CONTINUING ADULT FAITH FORMATION

"Too old too soon, too smart too late." That mantra comes to mind every time I
think about how I would have raised my daughters differently had I been more
knowledgeable about my Catholic faith. If I had life to live over again, the one
thing I would invest more time in would be learning and living a more authentic
practice of my Catholic faith as a mother and parent. It is the one investment that
offers eternal rewards." Mary Alice Newnam, St. Rose Parishioner
