News From the Field: Another Successful Seed School Held

On Saturday, September 16th we held another Seed School in a Day, with 20 new partner farmers in Benguet Province. We are grateful to continue our partnership with The Good Food Community, who brought participant farmers from new Municipalities including Bauko and Bugias. The Seed School provided another opportunity for the Benguet Association of Seed Saver (BASS) members to teach and inspire their peers. The seminar was facilitated by our Program Manager Karen Hizola, Municipal Agriculture Officer of Tublay Sir Jeffery Sottero, and BASS member and farmer Ma'am Ester Caga.

We look forward to helping these new partners begin their seed saving journey now that they are proud Seed School in a Day graduates!
2016 Annual Report

We are proud to share our Annual Report, which showcases our 2016 successes.
Last year we doubled our program impact and launched our first seed saving trials. For the third year in a row, our organizational revenues more than doubled, which enabled the programatic and staffing growth that we describe in our Report.

Also, thanks to the graphic design talents of Philippine Program Manager Karen Lee Hizola, this is our most beautiful Annual Report to date.

 Welcome Denver Based Interns

In July we welcomed two wonderful new additions to our Denver Operations. Both Graham and Grace are playing key roles in ensuring the success of our Nourish event through organizing the silent auction and managing our social media presence. We are excited to be working with them for the coming months!

Graham Sondermann, Events Marketing and Communications Intern

Graham is a recent graduate of the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. In 2016, he discovered his passion for agroecology while learning from indigenous communities in Northern Thailand. As a lifelong Colorado native, Graham spends his time away from Friends of ENCA Farm immersed in all that the mountains have to offer.

Grace Warner, Development Intern

Grace recently began her Senior year at the University of Denver, where she is studying  a double major in International Students and Biological Sciences. Her academic interests include international affairs, non-profit work, and microbiology. She was born and raised in the good old Midwest- Indianapolis, Indiana to be exact- and has loved her time in Denver so far.  Most days she can be found either outside or holed up in a coffee shop. She is excited to be the Development Intern at Friends of ENCA Farm.
