Women Learn Pistol Tips and Tricks at Babes with Bullets Course at Talladega Marksmanship Park


TALLADEGA, Ala. -  To kick off the fall season of marksmanship training, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) brought an enlightening program to its female shooters by hosting the Babes with Bullets Handgun Camp at its Talladega Marksmanship Park, Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, 2016.  Babes with Bullets is a traveling firearms academy for women, taught by national and world women's shooting sports champions, that has produced successful camps across the country for the past 12 years. The all-female staff is talented, proficient and patient with the new and experienced markswomen that pass through the camp.


Registration for CMP 3P Air Rifle Postal Opens in November


The Civilian Marksmanship Program's (CMP) National Postal Championship will officially open for registration on Nov. 1, 2016, for any junior air gun marksman involved in 4-H, Scouts, American Legion, club or JROTC air rifle programs. The competition is designed for those interested in testing their three-position competition skills against some of the top shooters in the country, while firing from the convenience of their home ranges.

 
Register Now for the 2016 Net Competitor Kick-off League


SANDPOINT, Idaho -  The 2016 Net Competitor Kick-Off League is a five-week shooting competition held online Oct. 31 - Dec. 4 at  http://kickoff.postalleague.com.

Like a modern "Postal League," competitors shoot in any of nine disciplines at their local range, then submit their scores through the league's website each week. Junior and Senior shooters of all skill levels are welcome to participate. The goal of the Kick-Off League is to introduce the concept of an online shooting competition and demonstrate how easy it is for anyone to run or compete.

Merci Train on display at Camp Perry - By Sheri Trusty, Correspondent, The News-Messenger - PORT CLINTON - Amongst the military tanks and war weapons on outdoor display at Camp Perry sits an unassuming boxcar whose simplicity belies its historic and humanitarian significance. The small forty-and-eight, named for its capacity to carry 40 men or eight horses, was one of many boxcars originally used to transport American soldiers around Europe during both world wars. But it is its last duty, as part of the Merci Train that brought 250 tons of gifts to the American people, for which it is affectionately remembered. Read the complete article.
 
 
Northborough boy places in prestigious shooting program - Northborough - Rio Ferguson, 13, traveled to Anniston, Ala., this summer to participate in the week long Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) 3-Position Air Rifle Camp. Five hundred sixty three athletes from across the United States ranging in age from 13 to 18 attend the 12 camps conducted by the CMP throughout the summer.  The camps are split into Sporter (348 participants) and Precision (215 participants) groups based on the type of equipment allowed.  The campers work on improving their shooting from prone, kneeling and standing positions. Garand & Modern Military Match at Petrarca Range. The CMP will host a Garand & Modern Military Match at Petrarca Range with the CMP Electronic Targets on Saturday, November 12th. The entry fee is $40 with relays starting at 9:30am. Six relays will be fired.  This match will be held the same day as the Friends of Camp Perry Snowflake Shoot, which begins at 9am. Come spend the day at Camp Perry and shoot both matches!

2017 CMP Competition Rules. The CMP invites pistol and rifle shooters, match officials and other concerned persons to forward their comments and concerns regarding current CMP competition rules and any recommendations they have for rule changes or clarifications to [email protected]. Comments should be received not later than 21 November 2016. The CMP Rules Committee and staff will review those comments and then confirm or adjust the new rules before they go into effect on 1 January 2017.

JROTC Air Rifle Postal Registration Open. The 2016-2017 JROTC Postal Competition officially opened on Sept. 26th for young cadets in Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force JROTC programs who are interested in competing in this three-position air rifle match with other talented juniors across the nation. Last year, over 7,000 juniors competed in the match that serves as the first step on the road to Nationals. The mission of the State Directors is to provide leadership, resource and program information, coordination, networking, motivation and publicity for junior shooting within his or her state. Anniston's Dixie Double
-The 60 shot international air rifle and air pistol competition will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 4-6 November 2016, with the first relay beginning at 0800 Saturday and the second relay at 1000. On Sunday the relay times will remain the same, although shooters will switch relays. There will be a Final at the conclusion of the matches on Saturday and Sunday. Pre-registration is required for the matches. All events will be held at the CMP Competition Center South in Anniston AL, featuring 80 MEGAlink electronic targets. On Saturday, after the final, there will be an optional target sprint event. This event will determine who get to walk the $1000 prize table first, which will be awarded during the dinner on Saturday. Entry Fee's are $50 per person. Visit our website to register.



The Gary Anderson Invitational will be held at both the CMP Competition Center - South, and the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center, located at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, Ohio. The National Three Position Air Rifle Council sanctions this three-position air rifle invitational as an open CMP Cup match. USA Shooting Coach Academy - USAS Coach Academy has scheduled an Advanced Rifle Coach ground course at the Ole Mill Range Complex in Griffin GA on 27-30 October. Griffin GA is 31.5 miles South of the Atlanta airport.

To be eligible to attend the Advanced Rifle Coach ground course, a coach must complete all the prerequisite online courses for the Advanced Rifle Coach certification program. The CMP "Aces" Postal satellite match offers all junior and adult air rifle and air pistol shooters a program designed to encourage participation in the sport and test marksmanship skills nationally with their peers. The program consists of Air Rifle, Air Pistol, and Para-Air Rifle/Air Pistol events.
 

CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park . The latest addition to the CMP is its 500-acre outdoor marksmanship facility in Talladega, Alabama. The CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park
is the first of its kind in the country and is one of the most sophisticated in the world - housing electronic targets similar to those used in the CMP air gun ranges. Several events have been planned at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park:

Training Workshop. The match is set to begin Tuesday, Dec. 6 and concludes Sunday, Dec. 11 at the  CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park . Open Public Shooting Evenings at CMP Marksmanship Centers.
