VIP Volunteer
If you’ve been around Second Harvest’s operations lately, you’ve probably noticed the activity level ramping up—something’s happening at the Food Bank!
Second Harvest staff are gearing up for our annual Holiday Food & Fund Drive, two high-energy months of school, business, organization, and neighborhood food drives which together raise over half of the food that we provide all year long.
We always need volunteers to help out in our sort room and other parts of our operations, but during the Holiday Food Drive you can help power the Food Bank by organizing your friends, coworkers, and school groups out in the community.
Second Harvest needs friends of the Food Bank to organize food or fund drives in their own schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces. There are lots of ways you can do this:
- Throw a social fundraiser like a poker tournament
- Organize a door-to-door neighborhood crawl like Wine-ing for Food
- Raise funds by making and selling crafts or baked goods for neighbors and coworkers
- Collect food and funds at your children’s school and make it fun with a challenge like “Stick it to Hunger”!
There are lots of ways to throw a food or fund drive. Find everything you need on our
Food & Fund Drives page
, including a simple registration form and a toolkit of fundraising ideas and tips and social media content to help you publicize it.
And come share in the excitement at the Annual Kickoff Luncheon on November 3, 11:30am-1pm at Twin Lakes Church, where you'll be encouraged and empowered to create a successful drive. Get your Kickoff Luncheon tickets here!
