The 2017 Colorado Section Award Winners represent an exceptional group of PGA Professionals. Join them at the Awards Gala to honor their service to the Section and to the game of golf.
The Gala is being held on Friday, October 27, at the Colorado Golf Club in Parker. Cocktails begin at 5:30 followed by dinner. The program will start at 7:30 p.m.

Colorado Springs' Kaden Ford Becomes Fourth Coloradan Ever to Qualify for Drive, Chip & Putt Nationals
Kaden Ford of Colorado Springs will be competing in the Drive, Chip & Putt Nationals at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia the week before the Masters. Ford, who on Saturday became just the fourth Coloradan ever to qualify for the DC&P Nationals, overcame the DC&P Regional Qualifying hurdle on Saturday at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

Kearney Hill to Host 2018 Girls Junior PGA Championship
Kearney Hill Golf Links of Lexington, Kentucky, has been selected to host the 2018 Girls Junior PGA Championship. The 43rd edition of the Championship will occur from July 9-12, 2018. The Girls Junior PGA Championship features a full field of 144 players comprised of, among others, PGA Section Champions and runner-ups, as well as exemptions from other top-tier national events.

Colorado Sending 10 PGA Professionals to Senior Professional Championship
The 29th Senior PGA Professional Championship tees off one week from today at Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Colorado Section will be following the play of the 10 golfers who will be representing the Centennial State on Sept. 28 thru Oct. 1. Golfers from Colorado include Rick Cole, Eaton Country Club; Bill Hancock, Littleton Golf and Tennis Club; Don Hurter, Castle Pines Golf Club; Chris Johnson, PGA Member; Bill Loeffler, The Links Golf Course; Barry Milstead, Valley Country Club; Mike Northern, PGA Member; Doug Rohrbaugh, Ironbridge Golf Club; Ron Vlosich, PGA Member; and Michael Zaremba, Desert Hawk at Pueblo West.

ClubCorp Stockholders Approve Acquisition
ClubCorp - The World Leader in Private Clubs®, this week announced that its stockholders approved the acquisition of ClubCorp by an affiliate of certain investment funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management, LLC at its special meeting of stockholders held Monday. Subject to the satisfaction of the remaining customary closing conditions, ClubCorp expects the transaction to close on or about Sept. 18, 2017. Upon the closing of the transaction, ClubCorp stockholders will be entitled to receive $17.12 per share in cash.

Golf Approved for 2024 Olympics in Paris
In June, the executive board of the International Olympic Committee recommended golf - as well as the other 27 sports from last year's summer Games - be included in the program for the 2024 Games, and on Friday the approved lineup was approved and will include golf.
Golf returned to the Olympics for the first time in more than 100 years in 2016 in Rio and was also approved to be part of the 2020 Games.

RMGSA Hosting Fall Merchandise Show -- Registration Closes Sept. 28
The Rocky Mountain Golf Sales Association will be holding its 2017 RMGSA Golf Merchandise Show on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 10-11. Registration deadline is Sept. 28. Participants will receive two (2) MSR points for attending.

PGA LEAD Accepting Applications for 2018-2019
The PGA of America is now accepting applications for the next class of PGA LEAD. Founded in 2016, PGA LEAD is designed to identify, mentor and progress PGA Members along a guided path into volunteer leadership roles at the Chapter, Section and National levels of the Association.

PGA Tour Implementing more Comprehensive Gambling Policy for 2018
The PGA Tour will be implementing a more comprehensive gambling policy for 2018. This week, the tour announced the creation of a new Integrity Program, which will go into effect Jan. 1. Betting by players on PGA Tour events has long been prohibited, but the new program will extend to virtually anyone related to tournaments. This includes players' support teams, tournament staff and volunteers, as well as all PGA Tour staff and policy-board members.
