No School on Friday - Enjoy the 3-day Weekend!
Raven Report: Sept. 20, 2017
No School on Friday, Sept. 22: Teacher Work Day

Just a reminder that there is no school this Friday (September 22). Summit teachers and staff will be working on our ISACS Self-Study as part of our reaccreditation process. See everyone on Monday!

Note: Since there is no school on Friday, tomorrow (Thursday 9/21) is a Summit Spirit Wear day!
The Summit is Moving: 2018-2019 School Year
With excitement and enthusiasm for the bright future of The Summit Preparatory School, we are pleased to share some additional details regarding the relocation of our school campus for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Monday night at the Springfield City Council meeting, the required rezoning request was approved for the property at 202 E. Walnut Lawn (near the Campbell Ave. intersection). The building was last occupied by Mercy Fitness and was last owned by Youngblood Automotive. The City Council approval enables The Summit to take the final steps to complete the sale of the building. The sale is scheduled to close by October 1, 2017.

At just under 39,000 sq ft, the space will provide room for the continued growth of our population of Summit learners as well as enhanced spaces for our innovative, independent education model to be more fully realized. In addition, the 6-acre plot offers a serene park-like green space to accommodate play and learning inside and outside of the classroom walls.

You're invited to the

Mark your calendars and start thinking about what colored polo you're going to wear for School Picture Day! Photographers will be on campus next Wednesday, September 27th to take individual and class photos. High School Service Learning: Pennies for Patients
September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. To support this, the high school service learning class is fundraising for Pennies for Patients ( part of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), from now until September 30. Pennies for Patients is an organization which raises money for Leukemia and Lymphoma patients. Each classroom has a box in which students can bring in change or bills to donate. The class that raises the most money wins a popsicle party!

As of Tuesday, September 19, the
EARLY LEARNERS were in the lead with $61.61.

You can also donate online through The Summit's Pennies for Patients Drive.

The High School Service Learning Class has set a goal to raise $750 by September 30.

  • toothpicks
  • rubber bands
  • baking soda
  • containers of salt
  • clear cocktail size cups
  • boxes of straws
  • boxes of cornstarch
  • 1-5 lb bag of flour
  • 1 bottle of vinegar

Summit Family Business Directory

The Summit Parent Organization (SPO) would like to build the relationships within The Summit community by offering families with businesses the opportunity to list their business in the Summit Business Directory. This will allow us to support one another through referrals and patronage.

Participation is completely optional and free of charge. Additionally, teachers are excited at the prospect of the Business Directory to have as a reference for potential guest speakers in their classrooms &/or field trip opportunities. If you are interested in being listed in the Business Directory, please use the link on the right.

Box Tops for Education Collection: Due Thursday 9/21
SPO is collecting Box Tops for Education labels in classrooms from until tomorrow (Thursday 9/21) as a contest between classes. The class with the most collected Box Tops during this time period (expired Box Tops will not count toward the totals) will receive a prize. SPO collects Box Tops at the front desk year-round and turns them in for cash to help pay for SPO activities and events. This will be the only Box Top competition this school year, so please plan to continue turning in your labels even after the contest. Every clip counts!
