CHAMBER BOARD NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

The Blount County Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for three positions (Construction, building trades and suppliers; financial and professional; and individual/non-profits) for its 2018 Board of Directors until August 15. Please complete the online form of an individual you think would make a good board member.

CHAMBERRITAVILLE

ChamberRitaville, the Blount Chamber's largest networking event, is set for August 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee (136 Harvest Lane, Maryville). Tickets are $10 and don't forget to bring a door prize.

This summer casual-themed event is your best opportunity to meet many Chamber members from all sectors of the community in one location. Use this event to network and meet new people in the business community!

CYBER SECURITY WORKSHOP

Join us August 8 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Cate-Russell Insurance presents a cyber security workshop at the Blount Partnership (201 S. Washington St., Maryville). Janet Smith of Bailey's Special Risk will deliver a brief presentation on the alarming growth and trends of cyber attacks and what you should do to better protect your business. The Dialogue

This feature is a question-and-answer session with a new Blount County Chamber member. So here we go with our 89th installment visiting with Drs. Jason Chaney and Frank Johnson, doctors/owners of Elite Dental which provides a wide scope of services for their patients while being proficient in procedures such as implants, crowns, veneers, root canals and Invisalign.

Describe Elite Dental? Dentistry is a passion for Drs. Johnson and Chaney. The ability to improve the dental health of our patients and create beautiful smiles is a privilege for us. Seeing a patients confidence soar after improving the appearance of their teeth is a satisfying accomplishment. Dr. Johnson provides a unique service to our patients by offering sedation dentistry. This enables our patients who are fearful of dental procedures to have their treatment completed in a relaxed manner. We also provide other unique services such as Botox.

How did you get started? The doctors at Elite Dental are cousins who grew up in a small town in Kentucky. They have a relative who inspired them to enter the dental profession. Seeing first hand how their relative was able to help his patients through dentistry peaked the interest of both Dr. Chaney and Johnson.

What is your background? Both doctors attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry together and graduated in 2006. ULSD has consistently ranked in the top 5 nationally and is excellent at preparing their students for the dental field.

Who is your mentor? Dr. Greg Bentley from Pikeville, KY has mentored both doctors throughout their careers.

Describe your customers. We see patients of all ages. Many of our patients are families who seek optimum dental care. By offering sedation dentistry, we see many patients who are fearful of dental treatment. We also see patients who want to improve the appearance of their teeth through cosmetic dentistry.

What do you enjoy most about dentistry? We have a very pleasant atmosphere at our office. Our team is exceptional and goes out of their way to ensure our patients have a fantastic experience. Being able to provide an exceptional service to others and seeing them smile while being in our office is truly gratifying.
