In addition to the variety of programs and resources that the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs offers, we also manage the Black Cultural Center.  This cultural center, located at 517 Welch Avenue, a great place to explore and debate ideas, hold study groups, plan and host meetings and events, have a dinner, read a book, write a paper, or just relax.

Grains of Solidarity will be a night to enjoy a variety of rice dishes provided by Black Student Alliance, Lambda Theta Alpha, and Asian Pacific American Awareness Coalition. We have come to an understanding that each population, each culture has their own way of preparing a rice dish, so this is just a simple but meaningful way to simultaneously acknowledge the similarities and differences we all have. We also invite your respective organization to bring your own dish to share with the community. The goal of this night is to refuel the community among students and ignite thoughtful discussions on our similarities and differences.

Hate Wall is an educational event defining and deconstructing stereotypes of marginalized communities through community building, activities, and engagement.

Intersections of Identity: A Spoken Word Event advocates for safe & brave student spaces through the  form of spoken word poetry.Students have noticed that there is a lack of safe spaces on campus where students can voice their opinions and experiences. The night starts off with original spoken word pieces performed by ISU students and ends with a performance by an award-winning "Author, Educator, and Cultural Jedi Womanist",  Dominique Christina
Leadership Opportunities:
BCC Ambassadors

In spring 2017, the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs will also be creating opportunities for student volunteering through the BCC Ambassador Program.   This program will be designed to provide opportunities for students to serve as liaisons between their peers and others in the ISU community who utilize the BCC facility during its hours of operation.  BCC Ambassadors will be expected to promote the utility of the facility through monthly programming that encourages diverse ideas, students' sense of belonging, collaboration and community building.  If you are interested in being a BCC Aambassador, please email us at [email protected] .
