The North Lafourche Conservation, Levee, and Drainage District (known as NLLD) was formed in 1992 to provide drainage and flood protection services for the northern portion of Lafourche Parish, including the entire parish north of the Intracoastal Canal.

The District includes over 250 miles of levees and drainage canals, and over 40 pump stations.

The NLLD office is located at 3862 Highway 1

RENEWAL and REDUCTION
Is on  October 14 Ballot

Local  Funds Build and Maintain the  Levees and Drainage Projects that  Protect Our Community

North Lafourche Conservation, Levee and Drainage District ("NLLD") builds and maintains levees, pumps and drainage systems that help protect our homes and businesses from flooding.

On the October 14 ballot, there is a 6-mill ad valorem tax RENEWAL dedicated to the NLLD for continued construction and maintenance of levees and drainage projects.

The 6-mill renewal is a REDUCTION  from the current rate of 7 mills, which as been in place for the past 20 years.

If the renewal is again approved by voters, the reduced rate of 6 mills would begin in 2019 and expire in 30 years, generating an estimated $2.1 million each year specifically for North Lafourche. This longer time period provides the financial certainty needed to build long-term flood protection projects at a rapid pace through bond issuances.

The proposition will reduce the burden on taxpayers while also generating funds to build and maintain levees, drainage systems, and pumps that are so critical to protecting our communities in North Lafourche now and in the future.

Supported by:
* Thibodaux Chamber of Commerce
* Bayou Industrial Group
